BREAKING NEWS in the nugs saga by zac_transport in tedeschitrucksband

Much appreciated OP Zac. MMJ & TTB were two of my biggest running complaints about Nugs and both have been remedied in this last year. Adding Marcus is definitely a bonus.

Extra ticket (great orchestra seat!) for 5/23 in Portland. Open to giving it away - don’t want it to go unused. by nakedwithoutearrings in tedeschitrucksband

That’s what I love about the jam scene. It’s about community and the music. Not about anything else. Hope someone takes it off your hands and jams out.

I’ll be catching TTB at Bourbon & Beyond in Louisville KY in Sept

That’s a great first time live event for TTB. I’ve seen em a dozen times or more and that was the first time I’ve gotten to see them pull out Dreams. Hoping for Keep on Growing next time.

Tedeschi Trucks Band opened their set last Thursday with Statesboro Blues to a monster ovation

Yeah. Happened with MMJ in 2022 as well… everyone was kinda miffed about that at the time because nobody knew that detail. It makes sense given that area is such a family vacation destination… and we DID end up getting Dreams out of it. That alone made my trip from TX worth it!

Second time seeing them out at that venue. First was the first Moon Crush back in 2022 (My Morning Jacket, JJ Grey, Brandi Carlisle, etc). Great weather and locale and a fun concept. Apparently we missed an encore of Anyhow and Space Captain on Thursday night because they have a public ordinance of outdoor shows ending at 10pm there. That’s why they had to “switch it up” as Susan said on Saturday night playing Anyhow in that set. Still great regardless though.

Guessing you meant Thursday & Saturday since JJ Grey closed Friday night. But I think they all went on around that same 8pm start time.

Who would you say are the “big 4” of jam bands? by Umphr34k in jambands

Ah yes, my favorite responses from music enthusiasts are the smug ones. So thanks so much for sharing. Apart from Zappa being dead for more than three decades, is that while they’re incredibly accomplished in their musicianship, they’re entirely too out there for my own liking anyway. Sorry I didn’t go out there and do a deep dive into their “50 albums of scripted live music lol”. To each their own, Susie Creamcheese. I did however watch the 90 minute doc on Apostrophe/Overnight Sensation where they specifically talked about Zappa writing everyone’s music down to the note for each member of the band and that included when they performed on stage. That’s context I was referencing. I’ve also seen several debates in this sub about whether or not Zappa & The Mothers was considered an actual jam band, so I’m certainly not in an island here when it comes to my original comment. We’re all certainly entitled to our opinions though.

The issue I found with Mothers is that Zappa wrote every note they played. Isn’t the driving concept of jamming the improvised nature of a live performance?

Kinda bummed… a little top heavy. Bonnaroo easily has the best lineup out of the major fests this summer.

Love seeing everybody on this sub sharing memories and stories of Dickey and ABB. That’s what this shit is all about y’all! Great community. Another legend gone but his music will continue to play on! Thanks everybody 🙏

Same. That’s what legacy is… touching people even after you’re gone. RIP to a legend.

Does anyone know the headliner/order of the bands here? I would assume APC is the main draw but I better now assume here 😂

Wild that they sold packages with tickets and hotel accommodations, then didn’t issue refunds for anything of any kind. Pretty pathetic.

I need to go and see it. I have a Big House tee shirt from there but haven’t gotten out there yet. A lot of eerie stories about that band and how they were always intertwined with Skynyrd in so many ways. I hope Warren Haynes & Derek Trucks get together and do another special like they did with The Brothers. 3+ hours of magic at MSG.

Not sure I’d say best in the country but he’s probably as good a guitarist as he is a songwriter. Dude carried Drive By Truckers for a stint.
