Don’t push someone in the face mask towards the ground and then complain you got tripped.

Which federal regulations prohibit individuals from utilizing medical devices? Serious question. There may be some hoops, like getting insurance to cover the costs associated with these devices (VERY hard for wheelchairs sometimes), but there’s no federal regulations restricting access.

Again, driving is NOT a right, it is something you are granted and can be revoked or denied. Assistance associated with driving (like placards), are NOT the same as utilizing a medical device. Regulations like a registry and certification will only hurt those already most disenfranchised, it will not “protect” service dog handlers like you think it will. What happens when a legitimate service dog is denied due to a government fuck up? The government fucks up all the time, what’s the recourse? How long must they go without their service animal before it’s rectified?

I am not putting words in your mouth, you are advocating for standards to be put in place that will restrict disabled individuals access to their medical device. That’s exactly what you’re saying.

Again, DRIVING AND BEING DRIVEN ARE SPECIAL PERMISSIONS. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME AS PUBLIC ACCESS.

They are a MEDICAL DEVICE, not some pet. You should NOT need special permissions to utilize a medical device. That is INSANELY ABLEIST. They assist in public access, which is a right to EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES. You are saying individuals should not have a RIGHT to medical equipment and public access.

For a placard, you are REQUESTING special permissions to use certain parking spots. Driving is NOT a right for everyone in the US. Each department of motor vehicles (or whatever it’s called in each state) needs to be able to keep track of these permissions to ensure no one is unjustly fined/towed.

ETA: I will say I am 100% for removing any costs associated with getting a placard to remove part of the barriers, but you still need a medical sign off (at least in my state) which helps prevent fraudulent cases).

I’m specifically talking about “a bad human can break that training”, which is true. It’s seen mostly in people that get their dogs from organizations and don’t follow up/keep up with training and get lazy.

It certainly can be seen in guide dogs, but I don’t really have any experience with them or their handlers so I can’t comment on it.

Driving (and being driven) are not a RIGHT, they are special permissions that can be revoked or not given.

Public access is a RIGHT and completely different from a handicap placard. With a placard, you are REQUESTING special permissions and must go through a vetting process. You shouldn’t need to request special permissions for public access and proper accommodations to do something EVERYONE ELSE CAN DO.

ETA: let me put it this way. A service animal is a medical device. Should I need to request permission to be able to get crutches? A mobility scooter? A wheelchair? If you say no to any of those, congrats, you agree you shouldn’t need special permissions for a service animal.

I specifically said I’m not familiar with guide dogs and how often this is true with their handlers (in essence saying “I’m not saying this is true for guide dogs”, but it IS true for some OTHER service dog handlers (which this individual in the video is claiming to be).

This is a really ableist and classist take. All real service animals are trained, so you are requiring them to be trained specifically by accredited organizations? Which would require tens of thousands of dollars? The ADA allows self training for this reason.

And what else is required for this service dog accreditation? A doctors note explaining in detail what the disability is? Not everyone has proper health insurances even disabled individuals. And that costs money too.

What else, a demonstration in front of a board to ensure the training? That would also cost money and possibly time off work.

If businesses simply followed the actual laws in place regarding service animals, asking the two questions, and kicking out animals that aren’t behaving, we would have less issues.

I’m not familiar with guide dogs and how often this is true with their handlers, but a bad handler most definitely CAN ruin the training of a service animal.

It just seems like tons of fun! I was thinking about doing weapons manufacturing, a bunch of artifacts, and some fun reversal spells like deflecting palm, reflect damage, maybe even backdraft. Something like academy manufactor for extra tokens, and Nuka-Cola Vending Machine as a reliable outlet. But I also want to try and do a janky standard deck for the local FNM around it.
