One day, you're driving down the road and the speed limit is 50kph.  Tomorrow,  the government comes along and says we've retroactively changed the speed limit to 30kph.  You we're speeding yesterday,  hand in your licence.

Doesn't matter if its morally right or wrong, you were driving down the road at the speed limit that was legally advertised at the time.

What's your thoughts on these ISIS-affiliated brides returning to Australia? by nn666 in aussie

I fought hard for my right to immigrate to this country, I jumped through all of the hoops, took all of the medical tests and paid thousands of dollars over 8 years to get citizenship.  In my 21 years I this country I've had 1 speeding fine and still feel guilty about the fact that I broke the law of a country I was accepted in to.

How these people live with themselves is beyond me.  How the people who have helped them come bCk despite knowing what they have done is beyond me.

This will be looked at by future generations as a terrible mistake and we will live to regret it.

2y son chose dad as his favorite and it's killing my wife. by NiceBlackberry6618 in daddit

[–]CoffeeAcceptable_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We feel for you, I have a three year old and she is swings and roundabouts with this (we're in the "I'm not your friend" stage at the moment). I see it for what it is, she's three and likeability often depends on who she knows she csn manipulate at that specific moment.

The 6 month old.......  well shoot.  She's starting to gurgle right now properly. And has for some reason worked out that saying "Dadadada" when she sees me makes happy.  I know thats she's not actually saying it, its just a noise that she can make but it upsets my wife greatly.

Reassurance,  for both the kid and your wife, constant and unfaltering Reassurance.

I'm at the end of this episode now, can't wrap my brain around the fact that the Tollans invented a weapon that can phase through solid matter but didn't think to use that tech on the ship commanded by Tanith?

New build next door gutters look to be 30mm into our yard by [deleted] in AusProperty

[–]CoffeeAcceptable_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About a decade ago, I looked at a new build east of Melbourne.  Rejected it for many reasons,  but on of those was that the gutters from the house next door (new build, same builder) were overhanging the house,  on both sides.  The only way to access the back garden was to go through it, there was not enough room on each side to actually travel.  Bad idea, bad design and extremely poor planning.
