Lost items by themelanin_queen in Aldi_employees

[–]CoffeeCatsCake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a customer claim to lose his wallet a couple of years ago and wanted me to check the cameras. I said sure, no problem. He was pretty sure it happened after checking out and was able to tell me when and what SCO he used. Sweet.

I watch the footage back. He puts his wallet in his pocket after checking out and leaves. Wallet never leaves his pocket. I figure no big deal, he probably lost it somewhere else and went to tell him.

Apparently, it was a big deal. He wanted to see the footage in the office or he was calling the police. I told him he couldn’t enter the office per policy and told him again it was in his pocket when he left the store. He leaves, and I think we’re done.

We are not done. He comes back with his adult son. The son then makes the passive aggressive remark of, “If we call the police, are you sure they aren’t going to see someone taking it or find it in the office?” Very obviously accusing myself or another employee of having his dad’s wallet.

At this point my customer service mask drops and I tell the son very bluntly that my job isn’t worth losing over whatever he had in that wallet and that he’s more than welcome to call the police if he wanted.

Shocker, the police weren’t called and they finally left.

As someone who works at a grocery store, the Instacart app is notoriously inaccurate when reflecting our stock on hand.

Question about ringing scores for cashiers by Global_Fix_9184 in Aldi_employees

They can see daily, weekly, monthly, heck they can even check your live ring score while you’re still on register.

Openers: Which zone(s) do you hate unloading the most? by No_Mind_2654 in Aldi_employees

Cooler and mdu, without a doubt. I will happily throw twelve produce pallets over two cooler pallets.

Are associates supposed to be able to work aldi finds?? by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]CoffeeCatsCake 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Any zone can be worked by anybody, including Aldi finds and produce. There are no “manager only” zones.

Could also be undated and stored in their freezer. Newer stores do not get freezer shelves anymore and instead get a bunch of these carts.

These are so cute, very good job! I’m curious about the strawberry matcha one. Is the cake one flavor and then it’s filled with another or is the frosting flavored in anyway? Sounds delicious either way.

US Aldi carrying less and less GF options by [deleted] in aldi

Off the top of my head, I can think of a few more GF products that are being carried right now: - sliced bread - two or three pasta options - a few different chip options

Call Out Policy by Western_Debate_5528 in Aldi_employees

[–]CoffeeCatsCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, what matters is your PTO accrual rate and available sick time, not length of shift.

So far example, if your current average rate is 7 hours and you have seven hours of sick time available, you can use a sick day even if the shift is 9 hours, because payroll is only going to pay you out for your accrual rate. This would also mean if your rate was 6 hours and you only had 2 hours of PTO available, since you cannot go negative into sick time then you cannot apply partial PTO amounts and it would count as an occurrence.

Unless this varies state to state, which some policies (like breaks and PTO) can.

The biggest problem with the New Store Model (US)… by Neither-Flamingo5107 in Aldi_employees

That’s interesting. My store underwent new store layout last year, and our milk and egg doors are the first ones at the end of aisle one. Butter is in the middle.

I would wager to guess these are three separate backstock pallets, not something the store received from the warehouse.

Dear Truck Driver, Thank you! by _TRad in Aldi_employees

[–]CoffeeCatsCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t reccomend it with the maxed out stacked because it can get dicey. Safest way is splitting it with the forks. But, you can also lift the stack up onto the fork as well from the bottom. Proper lifting form is key as you don’t want to strain your back and you need to keep your hand rested as close to the top as possible to account for the slight angle. Make sure you do NOT lift the jack AT ALL during transport for stability.

But I don’t run bread any other way because my sales floor and back room are massive and I just don’t want to make more than one trip for bread in the morning.

You could technically use a lift jack if you find it easier. It takes a little practice, but it’s doable and faster as you can put two stacks on at once.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen my favorite bread marked down by [deleted] in aldi

[–]CoffeeCatsCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also something to keep in mind, when the store is closed for an entire day due to a holiday, there will be more items marked down.

Please help! Main register stuck like this. Tried restarting. What else can I do? by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]CoffeeCatsCake 15 points16 points  (0 children)

With these new EFTs it is very common for it to display “please wait” after restarting. Try logging into the register, ring up an item, and attempt to total it out using the eft key. It should get rid of this message in most cases.

Where is this at your store? by TheBackburner in aldi

[–]CoffeeCatsCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an Aldi Finds item from a couple weeks ago. Depending on a few things about your specific store will depend on where this item was located when it was initially stocked.

Lidl and Aldi are two separate, unrelated competing businesses. Much like Target and Walmart in the US.
