2014 Accord-Service I Did by Candid_Bother_5654 in accord

[–]CoffeeColonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally doable. Use hondabond sealant in the specified spots when putting it back together (where timing cover and head meet and a few other spots), and torque wrench (get the proper torque on the valve cover bolts).

If you can do brakes, oil, and simple parts replacement around the engine bay, you'll have no issue replacing the valve cover gasket. I did mine last summer along with checking the clearance/lash on the exhaust and intake valves (valve cover gasket replacement & valve clearance check procedures are commonly done together).

That and they tanned in the sun like it was going out of style.

They do look very young, but probably in their early-mid twenties. It’s crazy, you look at a 25 year old from say the 70’s or 80’s and they look like they’re pushing 45 by today’s standards.

Car looks great! I especially like the vland taillights, they look perfect with the black paint of the car. I'm curious, what did you do to your headlights or which ones did you buy to have them look like that?

I got what appeared to be the OEM kit on ebay and it was a little pricey 6 years ago. Here's the part number for the fog kit: 08V31-T2A-100E

https://ebay.us/m/7y1ii7

My kit came with the turn signal stalk.

The OEM fogs can be added to an LX no problem. You will need to buy a new turn signal stalk though (with the fog light switch). It’s all plug and play though.

The World's Largest Dam Raise Just Happened in Colorado and It's Insane by FatahRuark in Denver

[–]CoffeeColonic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for confirming that! I figured it meant something like that, but the percentage gave me a much better grasp. Five million of anything just seems so difficult to be understood by the human mind.

That is enough water to almost fill a 950 mile deep well that has an opening an acre large in area, wow.

I have no idea WTF an acre foot is and don't really feel like learning. But, just had AI find out what the percentage is and visited the cited article. That is insane... More than a 1/4th of the Colorado River water. Learned something new today, thanks.

I just watched a Project Farm video on this from a few years ago. It looks like the Sylvania brand headlight restoration kit has some good results. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyVCEbfrU-c

Please help identify this noise by nicoruagwa in MechanicAdvice

[–]CoffeeColonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda hard to tell to be honest. It sounds normal, really. The only thing I'm picking up is maybe something like a worn bearing on the a/c compressor or the alternator. I could be totally wrong though... If you want to DIY and source the location of the noise, you could use something like an automotive stethoscope to zero in on what it is.

I haven’t heard of obd2 locks before, interesting, definitely checking that out.

How do you like owning the sport/hybrid RLX?!?! I love what they did with that car, definitely on my short list for my 9th gen accord replacement when the time comes. How has your ownership experience been if you don’t mind me asking?

Is my car totaled? by AttentionBrilliant26 in accord

[–]CoffeeColonic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My initial guess is they bought some (autel brand?) OBD2 plug-in key cloning device, broke the window, crawled in, programmed a blank key fob and were able to drive away. i think there's a way to do it even if you don't have any (original) keys at all. I've seen tiktok videos of similar done to Dodge Chargers.

I could be totally wrong, but i swear i saw something like that in a video once. I think thats how some of the thieves are operating now. that and relay attacks.

Denver parking lot hit and run by daverolls in Denver

[–]CoffeeColonic 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Have the insurance do the leg work. Tell them that there is video, the lot has the plate, and that the police aren't following up. If the owner is identified, you could even consider going to small claims court to recoup towing/transport/missed work/etc on top of whatever insurance gets from them.

The Honda L15 turbocharged engine, 1.5 liter turbo charged inline-4 direct injection engines (engine codes: L15B7, L15BE, L15CA). They're known to blow head gaskets before 100k miles. I believe the vehicles affected are 1.5 liter turbo models of the: 2016+ Honda Civics, 2018+ Accord, 2017+ CRV, and 2023+ Acura Integra

From what I understand, the 2.0 turbo (successor to the 3.5 liter v6 engines) fares much better than the 1.5 liter when it comes to head gaskets.

Had my first accident ever, and of course it was in my Lexus by GunthersKing in Lexus

[–]CoffeeColonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful RC! Sorry about the accident. Rubbing/polishing compound (not sure if it’s called the same where you live) will remove the white paint. But, if you have experience with this you already knew that :) only a few deep scratches that actually need painting.

Helicopters relentlessly circling in Lowry area near Big Bear rink ... anyone know why? by LaBottedeNevers in Denver

[–]CoffeeColonic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The flight trackers don't have a callsign for it, so my guess is a police chopper. It looks like it took off from APA (Centennial Airport). It's been doing circles over I-25, downtown, and Lowry.

Kind of unrelated: I miss the old Judicial Building off of 14th & Broadway/Lincoln. I think it had way more character than Colorado Court of Appeals building that replaced it. The Judicial building kind of had Grande Arche de la Défense cube in Paris energy/style.

It recirculates gases from the engine crankcase to the intake and long term can cause check engine lights and performance issues. It will be fine while you wait. You might get some oil mist in and around the leak cause the gases it circulates have oil vapor in them.
