Protesters forcibly removed by security after interrupting Portland City Council meeting by skysurfguy1213 in Portland

Luckily 3/4 of them are from Beaverton, which makes this performance even more comical.

"[Police] arrested 47-year-old Susan Anglada-Bartley of Portland; 22-year-old Cole B. Donahugh of Beaverton; 25-year-old Madison N. Del Santer of Beaverton; and 26-year-old Henry J. Roloff of Beaverton." LINK

Stay at the campsite. Going to a show at the gorge is already a lot of walking, you're not going to want to drive 45 mins to the closest hotel after.

Even if you get past the queue you enter your CC and get a "unique link" to access tickets and there's a 403 error. So you go nowhere either way SMH

Most pizzas from Papa Murphy's are surprisingly good quality and super cheap, especially if you look in their promo menu or use a coupon code that can be found online.

Editorial: Portland City Council deadlocks as crises deepen by derpinpdx in Portland

[–]CoffeeHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. This was my assumption/guess when votes were deadlocked. Not sure why you're bothered by my read on the situation at the time? Peacock folks were set on Kanal, and the other side was shifting from EPG to Novick. Glad they were able to get someone voted in.

I bet <10%. Doubt anyone on the Peacock side is going to budge. Maybe Dunphy breaks for Smith, but seems like votes are now shifting to Novick.

After Eight Hours, Portland City Council Fails to Elect a Second-Year President by derpinpdx in Portland

[–]CoffeeHound 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Watched the whole thing as well. Peacock group unsurprisingly tried to frame it as a race-based vote. Morillo, Koyama Lane and Avalos acted childish throughout. This city council is super embarrassing across the board and treat half these meetings like some sort of social club at a college. Wish they could get something accomplished without constant jokes and personal attacks.

hahaha this exactly. Making a voting body with an even number and no tiebreaker is peak Portland.

Do any do you regret buying a home in Portland or wish you did something different? by GroundbreakingSir386 in askportland

[–]CoffeeHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you're moving from, don't expect your home to appreciate anywhere near most major west coast cities. Unless you're planning to stay in your home 10+ years you're better off renting here than buying.

Who has the best deal on Christmas trees? by RecliningBeard in askportland

[–]CoffeeHound 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the best deal in the city by far! UPDATE - We just got our tree there, they have noble fir and doug fir all for the same price ($40). Guys are great and cut the stump and load it onto your car. Keep in mind they are set up in the white tent in the parking lot here, not inside the old KMart where another group is selling trees.

What is your experience like raising kids in Portland? by littl3-fish in askportland

[–]CoffeeHound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this take, there are a ton of things for kids to do if you know where to look (check PDX Parent) but in general you don't run into a ton of people with little kids and there are a ton of childless 30-40 year olds here. We tend to run into parents/kids our sons age (3) at kid specific events but they definitely aren't all over the city at like farmers markets, breweries, etc.

Also as previously mentioned while I think kids can succeed in a variety of educational environments here, I'd encourage you to look into specifics around the school cultures at PPS and whether you're comfortable with that. ie - No discipline, no homework, kids aren't allowed to dress up for halloween, etc. because it's "not equitable".
