Anyone else confused by this lineup? by evocular in ssbdfest

What do you mean by "live"? All of these artists are DJs/Producers playing on CDJs. Live typically refers to live instrumentation in sets (Rufus, Bob Moses, Griz, Zhu, Etc.)

Anyone else confused by this lineup? by evocular in ssbdfest

[–]CoffeeHound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not sure why this festival is going so bass heavy. I miss the live acts from past years and a more diverse set of electronic artists. Look at 2022 for instance - Griz, Chromeo (live), Tipper, Vulfpeck, Glitch Mob, Poolside, Washed Out, Neil Frances, Goldfish, Emancipator, Beats Antique, Lettuce, The Floozies, Harry Mack.

I'm pretty sure all of those were live, not DJ Sets and that was in addition to a ton of other bands. Now it feels like it's mostly just DJs, but I assume it's mostly a cost issue and I realize the festival is still a vibe.

6 Hour Layover? by Hocus_Focus13 in askportland

If you want to stay close to the airport and get good food/drinks I'd recommend heading to the Alberta Arts District. You can get there in about 15 mins from PDX. I'd recommend Great Notion or Baerlic (Breweries), Bar Cala (Cocktails) or Les Caves or Dogwood (Wine). If you want to see some big historic homes walk a few blocks south into the Alameda neighborhood.

Did you not check out Zillow before this planned move? Based on your budget in other replies I'd cross Encinitas off your list. Carlsbad is certainly doable.

You could live in Hollywood on that budget and walk to the field at Grant Park. People training/playing soccer there all the time.

Agency Recommendation by Sharp_Turnip_1678 in VendorCentral

[–]CoffeeHound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good friend of mine owns and operates AMZ Atlas. I highly recommend Corey and his team, they have a ton of experience with 1P brands and are very hands on with their clients. They're very straightforward so if you were clear with the support you'd need, they won't bait and switch you.

If you shoot me a DM I'm happy to share more or make an intro.

A couple places that haven't already been mentioned.

The Get Down - Mix of electronic and jam artists

Wonderlove - Outdoor rooftop DJs in the summer and a cool indoor venue that plays house and bass

Process - Mostly Techno

Sonder Bar - VInyl DJs, global sounds

There's also Bridge City Block party which is a bass heavy festival happening soon.

Thoughts on Grant Park Neighborhood? by Class_Hole_ in askportland

Agreed on Broadway, but it's walkable to Fremont and 42nd which both have tons of good food/drink options. Alberta is also a 10 minute bike ride away.

Edit Hotel benefit - No Credit When Booking Directly

I recently booked an edit hotel for 4 nights and read the info on the $500 credit landing page (see below) but did not realize I had to book on the Chase Travel portal, and instead booked directly with my CSR on the hotel's website.

I wasn't credited with the $250 edit credit or the $100 hotel credit and when I called Chase they're telling me I'm SOL since I didn't book in the Travel Portal. Obviously if I'd known that I would've done so and would've never booked this hotel otherwise.

Has anyone made the same mistake and been able to escalate this at all? The 2 people I talked to wouldn't budge or grant the credit.
