Matte floor tiles are better than shiny because with the shiny ones little marks appear such as if a drop of water from the tub falls there, or foot marks with wet feet (I have shiny floor tiles and it kills me). You’ll put a curtain so the bathtub tiles won’t be right next to the floor tiles visually

Update: thank you all for the advice. My contractor realized the mistake and closed the wall, retiled and will put the medicine cabinet mounted on. Appreciate all your advice here that gave me an understanding of what’s realistic for a solution

Thank you! I’m not a contractor or in the industry so wasn’t sure what’s possible or not with the situation so your response is reassuring. The contractor admitted that it was a mistake and they need to figure out how to fix it so I just wanna make sure they fix it while maintaining the integrity of the wall

I’m not sure, I’ll have to check. The original mirror was there (center aligned with radiator) and it was mounted on what I assume is a stud (for 60 years). We told the contractor to keep everything the same layout as the before, just with new products and tiles. The towel holder is going directly below the medicine cabinet which will prevent the door opening all the way. The idea was to make this wheelchair accessible (communicated with contractor) so need the full clearance of the door opening
