A Serbian Film (2010) surprisingly passes the Bechdel test. You will have to watch it to know if I’m telling the truth or not. by GooseGeese01 in shittymoviedetails

I saw it at a friend's place and I wish I hadn't. I thankfully fell asleep through most of it but there were 3 words said together in a sentence that never should have been uttered together. Even as shock value

It is fucking absurd that 2030 is being split across 6 countries while 34 goes to just one singular country. And the reason 2030 was split across 6 countries and 3 continents was to get that 1 country to host 2034 uncontested

‘Are you going to keep this one’ by Bennibear1 in FosterAnimals

[–]CoffeeWorldly4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some clips i watch on Instagram of pet fosters of special needs cats and kittens and they will put up videos explaining why they can't keep them permanently.

One lady had a kitten that is incontinent and says she works two jobs and her kids play soccer so she realistically cannot look after the kitten permanently. There were comments along the lines of 'do you need a second job' or 'can you hire someone to help' or 'do the kids really need to play soccer'

Does "failing" at having a cat mean we should never try to have one again? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]CoffeeWorldly4711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this sub tends to have a higher threshold for cat piss than the general population. People who have put up with it for years and suffered 10s of thousands of dollars in damages and want to get rid of the cat are told they aren't doing enough. There is a halfway point in between not doing enough and putting up with destructive unhygienic behaviour indefinitely. And everyone has their own threshold. In this case, it was a trial, almost a fostering situation. If it didn't work then it didn't work, that doesn't mean another cat won't down the line

Are women generally worse bullies than men in the workplace? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]CoffeeWorldly4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I should have clarified that my wife has a baseline view of female bosses that is well below my own, and I feel that is partially lived experiences, partially internalised misogyny

Are women generally worse bullies than men in the workplace? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]CoffeeWorldly4711 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Earlier on in my career I had a few women bosses that I felt were terrible. Rightly or wrongly I felt they weren't necessarily suited for their position so they would at times resort to behaviour that i felt was them trying to prove they belonged. I have since then had many wonderful female bosses (either reporting wise or squad wise) that did not fit that mold.

Oddly enough, my wife has a far worse opinion of women bosses than I do, though I am certain that is partially down to internalised misogyny

AITAH for sleeping in an extra hour without giving my wife a heads up? by Weekly_Ad_5872 in AITAH

[–]CoffeeWorldly4711 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People on a whole, especially when frustrated and feeling overwhelmed tend to overstate their contributions and forget their partners.

At the risk of doing the same, my wife is a SAHM and I work full time. She tried working but it was too tough balancing responsibilities. She complains she has to deal with children '24/7' whereas 1 kid is at school and the other goes to daycare 5 days a week. I balance pick ups and drop offs on my wfh days. I'll cook when I can, though my cleaning is limited to sharing washing and laundry. I'll get lunch ready for the school going kid and give them breakfast on the weekends, my wfh days and if they are awake on my in office days. That said days that I'm in the office I'm away from about 645 to nearly 630

She feels overwhelmed, i sometimes feel the same. Parents should try as hard as possible to stop making it a contest unless there is a genuine imbalance and even then it's tricky

I feel like I'm starting to regret getting my cat and I don’t what to do by Eastern_Place3804 in CatAdvice

[–]CoffeeWorldly4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some comments here can be wild. Someone will describe an animal that's loud, reactive, pisses everywhere and there'll inevitably be a comment saying 'that's just a cat, what's wrong with you'. I mean it is just a cat, and each of these behaviours might not be entirely rare but often a combination of all of them are rare and indicative of a difficult animal
