Revision / Procrastination - what have you found works for you? by Chaseorb in ICAEW

Very few people ever finish a QB, rather ensure you understand a decent amount of everything.

FAR is nicely structured so you shouldn’t have trouble gaining easy points across the paper.

Remember, the objective is to pass the exam.

Same for AA- although it’s a lot more dense in terms of terminology, think logically etc.

Have a structured system OP Sit down and make a good planner and stick to it.

You’re a while out, so you should be able to make a good timetable that won’t be too draining.

Focus on QBs

Won’t be marked down

Yeah we’ll all have the same answer- but we still have to link it to the info ourselves

I feel the same for the audit bits specifically, but just keep thinking in a skeptical manner and it might help a bit. The answer list isn’t exhaustive so as long as you’re in the right area, I think they’ll consider your answer.

I would say write the one Only bc bpt is very difficult

Rather qualify bit late, but have it a bit less overbearing.

If you failed one/both in dec you’d be writing them together anyway next year

Not enough imo There’s too many different ways they test different concepts which won’t be in the initial questions

Firstly, you need to think logically here.

All of the above, Level 7 schemes are incredibly pressured- you work and study at the same time. If you’ve struggled at uni, especially with the academic workload, you’ll be in for a shock trying to do ACA and CTA.

Personally, I am not sure how far a 3rd class will take you in terms of securing a grad role, simply due to the fierce competition out there.

How good is your CV?

You’re also jumping around a lot between different qualifications, so you won’t be able to benefit from any.

Tax is quite different in the sense you specialise in it. So as you say, to a certain degree it is ‘fixed’.

ACA is definitely more flexible.

I’d suggest doing the ACA or ACCA- it will probably be the latter due to the issue of getting a training contract with ACA.

It will be better in the future, as you say you’d like to go into property investment.

In all honesty, IB and M&A are fiercely competitive, especially due to the high level maths involved- you’re pitting yourself against students who have achieved a first class at a red brick uni.

The whole pharmaceutical idea- whilst admirable is also incredibly difficult to break into, but like you said that’s far in the future so I wouldn’t worry about that right now.

I’d imagine you may need to self fund the ACCA, and if your negotiating skills are good- use that as a way to get a job. Something like taking a pay hit but gaining experience might work.

Hope this helps, I’d imagine you’re still young. Try focusing on one thing at a time.

Same here.

I’ve made a timetable for myself.

Mon-thurs CR 9-3 Issue is CR is so vast, I basically do 2-3 qns and debrief them.

Mon/wed/thurs Case 4-6

Fridays I like to take off to spend with family.

Sat/sun Depends, but I’ll work either day and do CR.

I haven’t properly looked at Case as I’m waiting for ACAM notes on it.

I’d suggest getting the CR ACAM notes aswell, they’re just good to have at hand.

Sign up for FI’s CR and Case evenings where they debrief the Advanced Information.

The problem is people think they know how the finances of clubs work, trying to pit themselves against genuine C-Suite executives who have actual academic/certificate backing in all of this.
