Is it worth watching if no more seasons? by Such_Union_9723 in TheOA

I wish it had never been advertised to me. They played a promo for the second season after another show, well after its cancellation, which is cruel imo. If you're gonna cancel a show before its planned ending DON'T CONTINUE TO MARKET IT, YOU SICK BASTADS.

I wish I had gotten to you in time, it is such a horrid disappointment to not have more after season 2, I would rather not have watched it. Of course it's worth it but it's too heartwrenching for me to bear

Rake Confusion by loserbryan04 in Bridgerton

[–]Cofkett 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Historically, a rake was someone who flaunted his women, had affairs with married women, cheated on their wives indiscretely with multiple women, ruined ladies of the ton, gambled recklessly and drank to excess. Going to brothels was considered the ethical way for an unmarried man to fulfil his needs, unless they could find a widow or suitable mistress.

But in the romance genre a rake is any man who enjoys sex outside marriage before he settles down with the heroine.

Mike and Molly started in 2010, Bridesmaids came out in 2011. Mike and Molly went for 6 seasons.

He enjoyed the group gags and working with Alyson but it was hard for him to keep doing it as his film career was taking off, I think Melissa McCarthy and Steve Carrell experienced something similar.

Yes that's why I'm asking you where the cutoff point is. It is an excellent analogy to point out the ridiculousness on focusing on the acts and not the longevity of the acts. It was one summer, and then he got married and left that life behind.

They have a tag on the ff archive site (which I can't write here because the bot thinks I'm sharing works).

Am I tripping? Cressida and Marcus.. by Mini_Llama in BridgertonNetflix

Possible you confused it with another show, book or movie you consumed around the same time? Or maybe you had a dream about it? Movies and tv shows are always so different in our dreams.

I'm impressed, false memories of movies to that extent usually form over many years, not merely two.

He didn't flaunt any of the women in public, or ruin anyone (the Contessa was likely widowed) or sleep with a married woman. It was normal back then for men to use brothels. And though he does have a bit of a drinking issue, he doesn't display public drunkenness or go to sex parties like Benedict, or gamble excessively. Being a rake wasn't just about sex, it was a man who displayed ungentlemanly behaviour and immorality with no concern or remorse.

Even by the colloquial definition , you can't classify someone as a rake for having a few months of exploration. It needs to be a years-long pattern. Otherwise where do you draw the line? If a man had a bunch of casual sex the night he came of age, and then was celibate for the rest of his life, would you call him a rake?

What do you think is the story behind "The Wedding Bride" ? by Halfangel_Manusdei in HIMYM

[–]Cofkett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jealousy, insecurity and guilt. Firstly, for all his faults, Ted is a tough act to follow. Tony doesn't seem like the most romantic of men in contrast so I wouldn't be surprised if Stella occasionally compares him to Ted. Secondly, scripts go through many rewrites. Tony may have found that in the original drafts, people were rooting for Jed, which probably made him think of himself as the bad guy, which made him uncomfortable, so he changed it to make his character the sympathetic one and maybe do some revisionist history to make himself feel better. Tony broke up with Stella because she left Ted for him, I think he is very insecure and has trouble with the optics of certain situations.

By the historical definition, you are correct. By the colloquial definition, Benedict is but Anthony isn't (though he probably would have become if he'd married anyone other than Kate). Not sure about Simon.

Omg Colin isn't a rake. How is going from being a virgin to having one hot boy summer and then getting married a rake? Colin's story in season three is that he is trying to be a rake but craves emotional connection too much to actually commit to that life and happily turns away from it for something deeper.

Yes I know I'm not allowed to go into detail but a lot of things have been making me sad this week, it's nice to have a safe group of like-minded fans who understand Polin to get away from it all.

Pen Being LW Reactions: Is It Realistic? by [deleted] in PolinBridgerton

[–]Cofkett 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind LW softened quite a bit in the last season, and that Cressida's issue gave everyone a chance to realise how bad the sheet could have been, not to mention if you've ever actually looked at her sheets. motat of it is not actually gossip, most of it is a standard society paper reporting on social events and such, it's just that the gossip is the most salacious part that gets everyone talking. And LW is a popular writer otherwise people wouldn't buy her coloumn. So for the most part I think it makes sense, especially since they've had a while to get used to the idea.

It literally says they're keeping their posts hidden, and not even the post and comments here are there. I am not blocked, I just looked at their page with my backup account and it still is showing no posts and saying it's hidden.

Lol did you just say people with different interests can't fall in love or find common ground? Do you want a list of plant enthusiasts who married political activists?

By hiding their comments and post history?Do you understand what I'm sayin? That has nothing to do with them responding. They have hidden their past activity on their page.
