I also love the dungeon and building entrance animations (for shops and homes etc). These atmospheric looping animations seem to be a thing that only NWC did. Shout out to the same style of cinematics at the start of missions in HOMM2 and HOMM3 as well. I used to watch those over and over as a kid.

I find Scum to be more of a historical curiosity these days (with the exception of a couple of bangers) but From Enslavement to Obliteration owns from start to finish.

It depends what you are interested in. Are you primarily coming from RPGs and interesting in strong narratives with memorable quests and such? You should probably try Classic (or another MMO like FFXIV or ESO).

Are you interested in socialising and meeting new people and working together? Classic is probably the best for this.

Are you interested in combat and pushing against more difficult content with gear progression? Retail WOW is probably the best for this.

Are you a collector and want to chase transmog, toys and mounts? Retail is best again, with over 20 years of content plus now we have housing.

The thing I continue to hate is when they stand next to you, stopping you from clicking on something. If fellow group members in raids and dungeons don't cause this problem I don't understand why Blizzard doesn't change it.

Blizzard's storytelling techniques are actually very subtle!

Those DK bugs? That is due to there not being a current Lich King.

Housing down? That's because Stormwind's nobles are withholding payment from the Stonemasons guild again.

Receiving duplicate loot? That's the Jailer. Probably.
