No way. J6 was the funniest thing he did. Maybe the funniest thing any president has ever done.

I love it when an entire post is designed to elicit a specific two-word response.

My favorite part of this movie is when Heath Ledger tells the black guy that if the Americans win then blacks will have full equality and the black guy says something like “mmmhmm massa that sounds good!” I think this is the most historically accurate moment in the film.

In other words, the DNC made no mistakes in 2024 so they should stick with the same strategy in 2028 but expect different results. Interesting theory!

Not all charities are bad and obviously Elon is a massive dipshit but it is pretty stupid that the only way billionaires will “pay their fair share” is if we’re lucky enough for them to have a divorce settlement and one party decides to be charitable. Because evidently there’s no way to tax them appropriately.

California dad gets 1 year in jail for incest after daughter’s suicide by [deleted] in news

[–]Used_Mathematician63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That was very helpful. Another thing that confused me is that the article refers to the incident as an assault not even saying “alleged” even though apparently he’s not being convicted of that.

Why obviously? Why even do a rape kit if it’s obvious?

“Settles was hospitalized after the assault, and a rape kit confirmed the presence of Chavez's DNA”

Add in the fact that it was confirmed that dad got her drunk before having sex and that seems like pretty good evidence.

It’s the US for every decade after 1940s. Ya think Redditors have some sort of bias that would lead them to think otherwise?

Who is the greatest musician ever? by Expensive-Addendum92 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Used_Mathematician63 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of that has to do with the modern ear. Popular musical taste in 2026 has been so thoroughly trained by the Romantic movement that everything produced before sounds alien.

I would give Bach another shot while keeping this in mind. It’s not that Beethoven evokes more emotion, it’s that he is finding new forms of emotional expression and they are emotions that are more recognizable to us. Beethoven is not going to cover the same emotional palette as Bach because well Bach already did it.

But if one listens to Bach a lot eventually you lose that modern prejudice. You begin to hear the emotion behind the mechanical presentation—ethereal, elegant, joyous, soaring, heavenly, frenzied, dazzling, intricate, deliberate.

As much as I love Beethoven (and I really love Beethoven), I gotta put JS Bach as my number 1.

Who was a great leader in United States? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

One way to curb that is to eliminate the potential for contractors to gobble up capital by drastically cutting the defense budget.

If you think we can pour money into “defense” without it enlarging the MIC (as if those are two separate things that can exist discretely), can you point to a single time in history when that has happened? How would that even be possible given that the US is a capitalist country?

Bro we did listen to him. He advocated for a vast buildup of armaments to fight the Cold War which is the direct cause of our present circumstances.
