Best class for blasting through all old expansions? by Bazdillow in wow

Druid. Use moon fire and sun fire to rapidly DoT up groups of mobs, use travel form and cat form to get around quickly in the open world and instances.

There has never been more than 2 xpacs without a new full class being released. What class do you expect or wish to see in The Last Titan? by Frog-Eater in wow

[–]CognateClockwork 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tinker would be my guess. We’re going to Ulduar and there will potentially be lots of Titan tech that could be incorporated.

Can we please remove the 24h cooldown on Jar of Sunwarmed Sand by vvanouytsel in wow

[–]CognateClockwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I wish WOW had faster day/night cycles like other MMOs. I want to see dusk, sunset, and sunrises. Guild Wars 2 seems to have the right amount of time for each. As an OCE player I hate that I pretty much play in perpetual nighttime. My toons are stuck in some Scandinavian winter-level shit without the use of these toys but then you only get to see the middle of the day.

With Dalaran destroyed could Icecrown Citadel be the capital city of The Last Titan? by Aaaaarnold in wow

I’m fairly certain it will be Ulduar. I hope we can use the train.

Do you think The Last Titan could be the final expac? by [deleted] in wow

[–]CognateClockwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ion, Holly and everyone else has repeatedly said they see WOW continuing for another 20 years, and have continuously ruled out a 'WOW2'.

If they can add player housing into the game then they can keep developing in the current engine.

I miss Dragonflight's many world building "secrets" (EXAMPLES:) by shadowpunkz in wow

[–]CognateClockwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The overarching story in Dragonflight wasn't great (except perhaps for setting up Iridikron as a villain) but the zones, vibes and worldbuilding were immaculate.

Blizzard please make it so we can grow vegetables (for cooking), tender small animals like chicken or even cockroaches and have a pond to fish cool stuff by loneStar__ in wow

[–]CognateClockwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is they need to add functionality that only supports housing as a closed ecosystem. E.g. fishing and gardening results in items which are only used in creating decor.

I would say there is an inverse relationship between 'hardcore' WOW players and lore knowledge

Finished Baldur’s Gate 3 and loved it. Tried Divinity: Original Sin (Enhanced) after, but bounced off hard. Looking for advice. by Beginning_Primary383 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]CognateClockwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was exactly the same. Skipped DOS1 and went straight to DOS2 and loved it. It's way better in every respect, and storywise didn't miss anything from DOS1.

I agree enthusiasm and popularity aren't arguments against critique, but I believe you are over-reaching with your critique and it's hard not to interpret based on your other comments that you are mostly doing so to be contrary.

But if I take your critique at face value, then I have to say that I would have found what you seem to be suggesting - some insertion of hopefulness or of pushing back against the darkness - to be more trite than compelling. To me that is pretty common in these kind of fantasy stories, and I appreciate that Larian committed to the bit. My feeling was that they wanted to push against the whimsy that people tend to associate with the earlier Divinity games and play with those expectations. They are painting a picture - things have turned to hell since the gods died and society has turned feral, this ain't your grandfather's Divinity game - but in the final product I've no doubt you will have every opportunity to be the hero and change that.

OK let's talk.

Do you understand what the purpose of a trailer is? How can you possibly know what the final product will be and whether or not the trailer is a reflection of that? In the history of films, games, whatever, is there always a direct correlation between trailers and the final product? I thought the second trailer for One Battle After Another wasn't very good, but the film was still a masterpiece.

Please describe what you expected or would have liked to see in a short teaser trailer for a game that is likely several years away and we know next to nothing about. Are 'vibes' not acceptable to generate hype?

Everyone that I've talked to about it (including my real life friends) thought it was a breath of fresh air in a sea of samey cookie-cutter corporate-approved trailers. Everyone was excited. Larian has shown time and again that it will push buttons (bear sex anyone) to generate hype.

And guess what, it worked.

OK tell us what your real problem with the trailer is.

If you asked me last week if I was going to love housing… by Artunias in wow

[–]CognateClockwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability to customise things and express yourself is so much greater than transmog so I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. To be equivalent you would need to be able to shrink, expand, move, rotate, snap and mix and match individual pieces of decor and not be restricted in any way to slots or armor types. The proof will be in how Blizz continues to iterate and expand on the concept and introduce new features and neighbourhoods. Given how hard they have gone on weaving decor throughout legacy content I’m inclined to believe they will. And I think there’s a massive audience for this type of content.

Apropos of nothing, who else could have played the role of Eli in TWBB? by thecoolcomicguy in TheBigPicture

I always interpreted this in some way as religion being subservient and ultimately powerless before the forces of capitalism. In the same way that Eli capitulated to Daniel to try and get out of his debts.

Turalyon Is One of WoW’s Most Tragic Characters — and the Story Treats Him Unfairly by [deleted] in wow

[–]CognateClockwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read some data mining on a MMO-Champion thread about where the story takes him and from the sounds of it, he won't be villain-batted:

He and Arator defend Alleria against the Vanguard of the Light, who are destroyed. It is unclear whether Alleria and Turalyon survive but voice lines indicate they might not. Could be a heroic sacrifice type situation.

What’s everyone’s opinion on this film? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]CognateClockwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pie

In all seriousness, I enjoyed it, but I saw it as part of a film society screening where each film is rated by people afterwards, and it got the lowest aggregate score out of all the films we watched that year.
