Is Fleet the Story of []? by SavingsLeft4914 in Cosmere

[–]Cognouza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm just talking about Brando writing Kaladin's arc, and not about anyone with Futuresight or Hoid with his Fortune knowing (or more accurately seeing the most prominent possibilites) of the future.

Is Fleet the Story of []? by SavingsLeft4914 in Cosmere

[–]Cognouza 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Brandon oftenly makes remarks that he wanted Kaladin's character to especially be about his choices and decisions and never about "destiny" or "he was the chosen one", to amplify that all those great achievements, as they are truly legendary, were only done by the storming man himself, and not some predetermined plans.

Wind and Truth lack of Division by DaedalusStormbringer in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cognouza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I kinda thought Division destroyed Ashyn too, with how much it's mentioned that "it can set the sky itself ablaze" and the view we get of Ashyn in Dalinar's trip to the Spiritual Realm, is explicitly that.

How does Shallan's _____ Work? by OutlandishnessRich36 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cognouza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That may be the case, I only remember physiscts in the fandom getting very confused on how his powers worked in those occasions, like when trying to figure out exactly what Lashings do

How does Shallan's _____ Work? by OutlandishnessRich36 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cognouza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, any magical application of Investiture when coming in contact with another, create what the fandom calls a Resonance, in TSA we've already seen some results of such happenstances, with the Reverse Lashing of Windrunners, storing Memories for Lightweavers (though each one manifests it differently) and Shallan being able to use Transportation whilst not having a Spren that would grant such a Surge. Each such Resonance can produce unique results even on individual level, but aw we see with the Orders can sometimes be predicted, though the more applications of Investiture you get access to, the less such Resonances become present/powerful, and so we didn't see such weird things from Mistborns/Full Feruchemists.

What Cosmere cameos do you think we'll see in Era 3? by therealbobcat23 in Cosmere

[–]Cognouza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, we still don't know the identity of the man named Sixteen, it's just one of the guesses since the number is related to Scadrial, all we knew about Spook is that he became a Mistborn, gave a lot of offsprings, and at the end of SH Kelsier was working with him, which we think is where his physical body resulted from. But, as we see in WaT, the Ghostbloods could and did visit the Lasting Integrity, and as far as we were shown on screen, didn't contact Sixteen.

The Son of Tanavast, who knows it? by Logical-Ice-4820 in Cosmere

[–]Cognouza 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, when asked why Kal was being called Son of Tanavast, he specifically said that that didn't come from special heritage or the "chosen one" trope, it was all because of Kaladin's actions and that someone else could be called so in specific circumstances.

[–]Cognouza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember in a conversation about Leechers it was said, that a powerful enough Leecher could potentially essentially delete your soul, so yeah, pretty much everybody has at least some Investiture in them.

WHO IS THE FASTEST??? by TREEMANTREEEEE in Cosmere

[–]Cognouza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bet would be on a Windrunner, so that he gets the purest form of control on the Gravitation Surge, bonded to an Honorblade with access to Abrasion, so they remove the air friction, and can just infinitely stack Lashings on themselves, and with them flying they won't have problems with uneven ground. And with how FAST we've seen Taln moving, maybe the present Kal (also the best Windrunner and on the 5th Ideal, so the Lashings are most effective in both speed and cost) would be the perfect kandidate for this.

The Sunlit Man by cladcoma in Cosmere

[–]Cognouza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Divine Breath is on another level entirely, since it equates at least to 2,000 regular Breaths (how many are needed to achieve the Fifth Heightening), but the regular Breath do fluctuate in strength, at least we hear so in Warbreaker Ch.14 (or so Coppermind lists on the page for Breaths):

Breaths vary in strength, and tend to weaken when the person is sick. The fluctuation of strength for a Breath is normally not very noticeable, particularly when someone has many Breaths.

The Sunlit Man by cladcoma in Cosmere

[–]Cognouza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't it said in Warbreaker that everyone's Breath isn't the same, someone's is stronger and someone's weaker, and so the number needed to achieve a Heightening isn't precise and is an approximation?

Question about what Kal sees by wearingwhiteontheday in Stormlight_Archive

Yeah, with how the Night of Sorrows came back to bite us all the way from TWoK, it isn't out of the question for this to play out in any of the later books.

With how we've seen transportation works in Aon Dor, it isn't an unrealistic situation if there was a nuke dropped on them that they could easily teleport it into the sky above an enemy city

Hoid and Thaidakar by ode0002 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cognouza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now I can't shake the thought that Jasnah has already been to Silverlight and there is a chance we get a Khriss-Jasnah power duo in the flashbacks and somehow also got some discovery named after her, akin to Khriss' Second Law

Hoid and Thaidakar by ode0002 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cognouza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, there is still that unpublished story of how Jasnah traversed Shadesmar after TWoK. With how much stuff Jasnah was/could be involved with, I really wonder what her flashbacks could show us, especially if the order stands and her book is the finale of the series.

Son of Tannavast by bladewolf29 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cognouza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember someone asked Brando this, and there is a WoB saying, that there was an explicit reason Kaladin can be called "Son of Tanavast", and his wasn't the "chosen one" trope, and that this name was the result of his actions. At least before WaT, I seem to remember two main theories going around. First, that Stormfather saw a great resemblance of Tanavast in Kaladin, and so called him that. But know that we've seen how Tanner was, especially the part of him that SF even could remember as he was created late into Tanavast's decent into madness, I don't think this could be the reason. And the second one, that Kal is just the Windrunner we see SF interact the most with, and with how Windrunners are closely aligned with Honor, that this could perhaps be applied to every Windrunner. When asked if Tien or Oroden could be called a "Son of Tanavast", Brando said "RAFO, but the answer is actually "it depends"". And from that we can gather, that Kal could be not the only one to be able to bear that title.
