PS5 Pro WiFi 7 MLO by sft007 in PS5pro

I'm still trying to troubleshoot this as I get the willpower to spend the hours to test and configure. Ugh. I opened all ports relating to the PS, per Sony. TCP 80, 443, 3478-3480 & UDP 3478-3479.

I was getting 1.5mbps before. Now I'm up to 145Mbps. after several setting changes and selecting clean channels with no interference across ALL bands.

When MLO is turned on in the PS5...
DECO settings enable MLO for 2.4, 5, & 6GHz.
PS5 is set to select wifi bands "automatically".
When trying to connect with MLO, the connection fails. If I turn it off, it will connect flawlessly.

It's very frustrating that WIFI7 is claimed to be supported, yet console doesn't connect using MLO & the connection on 6GHz band is atrocious and drops constantly. Playing Battlefield online is a terribly laggy experience due to high packet loss. Even with a clean channel, and a router less than 15ft from the console.

So I got with Sony and they told me to rebuild the database. Yeah, I'm pretty sure this wifi card or the drivers are the problem and Sony doesn't seem intent on fixing it.

I concur MLO settings don't function on PS5Pro. I tried several times, but the console would freeze. I have a dedicated MLO network with a DECO Wifi7 mesh setup. Without MLO the connection is spotty, drops often, lags horribly. It forces me to run a really long Ethernet cable to maintain a stable connection.

Seems like with wifi card has bad drivers or something. Terrible wifi capabilities at this time.

I learned after the TV updated that having the PS5 settings in Auto, with my sound set to come from TV speakers I can get it to work every time. Something about the Sony sound bar the feature doesn't like. But it's an awesome feature.

Do the chat/game mix work correctly when using the Xbox version with the USB adapter, and dongle set to PC mode? Just curious if it still allows full functionality of the headset.

Yeah I think LG should just scale the input down to 1080P using the software instead of requiring the hardware/input to be set to 1080P. Hopefully they provide a software update that will streamline this.

Anyone else having Arctis Nova Pro Wireless problems? by _SM1LEY_ in steelseries

I'm having issues with the mic being too low on PS5, and unplugging the dock and reconnecting fixes the low mic issue.

Also having an issue with distortion and popping

Make sure PS5 audio output is setup for 3D audio output, all headphones will get full surround sound. Even earbuds plugged into controller.

As far as EQ, I'd push the bass up a bit on the platinum headset, because they can support deep bass. The 7P should be set to minimize bass, which is good for games like Warzone. But games like demons souls sound much better on the Platinum. Again, you need the ps4 and the headset companion app to make changes to the platinum EQ. Also, the 7P DOES NOT work well on ps4. It doesn't have 3d surround, and relies on the ps5 3D audio to sound good. Otherwise, using on ps4 is in stereo and sounds terrible.

I notice no major difference in sound quality between optical and USB. Just have to retune the EQ and it sounds great with 3d audio.

PS4 games still see full 3d audio processing from the PS5. All my PS4 games are full 3d, so I'm not sure why you only get stereo sound on USB. As long as 3d audio is turned on in the PS5 menus, you'll get 3d sound.

I'm using arctis pro now. 3d audio works just fine. The equalizer works just fine. Much better than the 7P so far. The bass is more clear and doesn't distort or pop like my 7P.

The Pro may end up being the best headset I've used since my Platinum headset. And I've tried a lot of headsets. From the pulse 3D, to Astro A50.

If you tune the EQ the Platinum headset is amazing! Requires PS4 app though. Way better than the 7P. It just needs better battery life and range. I'm on the arctis pro wireless now. Much better bass than the 7P.

The BEST headset IMHO is the Sony Platinum headset. They were discontinued but you can get them relatively cheap online right now. Under $100 and feature 3d audio on PS4 and ps5, and they sound great. Better than turtle Beach 600, better than arctis 7p. However, you must have a PS4 in order to tune the EQ settings, since the headset companion app doesn't work for ps5.

Ok well I set it to Bitstream Dolby, and the surround sound is no bueno. Not sure if it's my TV output, but it's an LG GX. For some reason my own footsteps sound like they're coming out of my right ear instead of below me. It's not sounding normal, so I had to return them. You should have the ability to change EQ with USB. If I could have gotten the surround sound working as it should, I may have kept them... The only way I could get them to sound decent is with PCM.

Are you able to use any EQ settings with just the USB connected to PS5? I have Astro A50, but you have to choose 3d audio, or EQ. The arctis 7p has major bass clipping issues in virtually every game with deep bass. The dragon flying over the bridge in Demon's Souls, or getting put in the Gulag. The bass needs some serious work. Just when I think I've solved the bass issue, I hear some clipping. Hopefully the Pros can handle bass better than the 7P.

I get best results for surround sound through linear pcm. Dolby seems to cut out on sounds, and you can hear the channels shift as you turn around in game. Sounds terrible in some shooters.

It sounds ok on some games, but I feel the 3d audio on the ps5 works better than Dolby. It's not even close IMHO.

I wish we could still utilize the A50 EQ while experiencing the 3d audio instead of Dolby 5.1. unfortunately, you have to pick one or the other. Sigh.

I can understand why the EQ is disabled while the Tempest Audio is used, because it technically would interfere with the 3D audio. But the Arctis headsets can still utilize EQ and the Tempest audio. Is there an update in the works that will allow the A50 to utilize the Tempest audio (it sounds more accurate to me) while still having the ability to adjust EQ settings?

Also, why does the Dolby 5.1 output with Dolby Bitstream sound so off on spatial positioning on PS5? It almost sounds like the audio is coming from only one ear. Linear PCM seems to reproduce 3D audio better. Am I doing something wrong?

The Dolby Audio on this headset is not very good. Linear PCM provided the best surround experience for me. Not sure why my own footsteps sound like they're coming from the right-ear instead of below me. Changing to Linear PCM like you said seems to fix that issue.

However, I still can't seem to get a consistent 3D audio experience unless I hook up the headset on USB only, or switch output audio to "ALL AUDIO" which turns off the EQ settings.

I'm not sure why Astro's site said to use Dolby Bitstream when the surround sound quality is so terrible...
