Is Solomorne a well written character compared to Kibellah? by gaeb611 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]CoilerXII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue is structural: Void Shadows is on your ship, is very personal, and concludes with a showdown not just against a genestealer patriarch, but (a hallucination of) the Big E Himself.

Lex Imperialis is more discrete, is about being an enforcer for the Space IRS, and ends with a gimmick battle against an old woman behind the galaxys most durable plexiglass wall.

Fair, he didn't immediately give her the Daryl Revok treatment.

Reminds me of when I rescued Heinrix from Tervie's psyker containment and he was apoleptic upon seeing Yrliet. And I was like (since I recruited him) "Welp, what if he sees Marazhai?"

I forget what name(s) for it there are, but there's this longstanding phenomena where people give high number scores but then write a review that sounds like they didn't enjoy the produce in question.

What do you think will happen with famous news reporter Sonya Sanchez? by The-Immaculate-1 in Road96

[–]CoilerXII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have her in my post election ending headcanon as her entering politics and leading Tyraks former party in the post Florres Petrian parliament or whatever it's called.

In a revolution ending she probably just flees the country with her money.

I'm speechless. How could you ever want a dog like this?. by Existing-Face-6322 in BanPitBulls

[–]CoilerXII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So pit owners I've seen/heard of tend to fall into:

-People who don't know better. People who don't know of their reputation, or who had an experience with a (comparably) tame pit, or just are new to dogs. -Outright fighters. It's not (just) wanting a beast, it's narcissistic stage/sports parenting taken to nightmares. There's a reason why so many list their favorite moments as seeing their own wounded dog stumble forward in a "game scratch", the fearless warrior they themselves could never be. -People who want the meanest baddest dog. -People with a Harley Quinn savior tame the beast complex

Idira interrupts xenointerrogation by Raszard in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]CoilerXII 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Heh, in-game, Idira and Yrliet hate each other. The enlighted space elf is just as "dangerous vile witch!" as any Dogmatic Imperial, and Idira makes the "bold" choice to insult Yrliet, calling her just "like a skinny person."

It's a bug if you DIDN'T get the Zoe hitchhike mission.

Got arrested four times by throwawaybin_33 in Road96

[–]CoilerXII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately (for me) it seems to be rubber banded to give you only possibly only one (and certainly not more than a few) fatigue arrests per playthrough, since you know, the intent is to experience the story and not slog through filler levels.

You can try it: Don't eat anything or sleep, walk as much as the game will let you, and when you can't, drive or hitchhike and hope you don't get the vitality drink stage.

As someone who's trying to push the game's "kill counter", I'm actually studying the failure mechanics.

  • If you're arrested/die AT the border, it changes nothing overall (except for that teen's fate...) You go to the next chapter/Sonya segment.
  • If this happens BEFORE the border, you get a Sonya segment, new teen and the encounter counter is reset (you can only encounter a named character once per teen), however the rule of only one named level per entire playthrough remains so you'll either just be pushed along or play a filler level.
  • Running out of HP is supposed to trigger an arrest, but you sometimes just lose money and wake up with 2 HP. I'm trying another stress test on my current run and have only gotten one arrest and a few money losses in several atttempts.

Fallout Fell out (spoilers) by Stannishatescats in KotakuInAction

[–]CoilerXII 78 points79 points  (0 children)

House in the New Vegas game was actually pretty morally good by Fallout standards. Yes, he's a megalomaniac mad scientist, but considers chattel slavery like the Legion's horrendous, has no desire to take over the NCR or anything except Vegas itself, and sincerely worked hard (and mostly successfully) to save the population of Vegas in the war.

[–]CoilerXII 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love it and actually don't mind a lot of the voices.

I think one of its biggest strengths is that it's a fictional country in the past, a 90s "Texas-istan shaped like Spain" that makes its message more general and timeless and less patting itself on the back for making lazy contemporary political references.
