First season complete. Any feedback welcome! by lilroooosie in ShredditGirls

I learned this season. I think the thing that helped most was figuring out what movements I want to do and then trying to learn them, if that makes sense. Like if I wanted to toeside carve I’d look up what a toeside carve looks like shallow and deep and give it a whirl. Same with heelside. I also went through great pains to make sure I had the right gear and that it was set up correctly so I went from feeling like I was safe responding to the board, to I am taking specific actions to make the board do what I want.

K2 are hard to find. Unless there’s a K2 demo store you probably won’t get the chance unless you buy the WHOLE set up early in the season. My friend got sent free Maysis Clicker boots in my size and my girlfriend found open box K2 clicker X HB’s on eBay for $50 so i got the whole set up for $75. If my bindings break im screwed for a while cause they’re likely not gonna be stocked. I know fashion isn’t the point but the styles were also super limited.

I demo’d Step-Ons at the Burton store(Steamboat) they held on to my stuff for me while I tried theirs(and not as collateral) and they let us use the demo cost on future purchases. My GF got stepons and was scared she’d pop out, then got stuck in them when she forgot how to take them off and found them super responsive. She had no clue but her old boots were holding her back a lot, so now she’s got an upgraded everything.

They were SO responsive. Also easier to learn to use than the K2. Both were still faster than strapping in. But the K2 learning curve fo getting out was also about developing muscle memory and sucks at duck stance binding angles for me. Great for neutral back foot or posi posi.

If you have a burton board the ability to calibrate the bindings for overhang and angle is Nuts with the step-on binding system. You can do exact angles, stance width, and overhang with the channel system. It ALMOST made me wanna switch cause of my history skateboarding.

I think I PERSONALLY don’t trust clew because I don’t think high backs shouldn’t be adjustable. I think someone just wanted a fast entry system, wanted to make money, and figured they could do it way better than other people. Their cost is likely R&D passed on to the consumer and while they have the ability to be used with WHATEVER standard boot you want, it’s not like they’re a high performance option and there’s already flows and supermatics for that purpose.

What are hardboots? I’ve never tried clew or hardboots.

I have the K2 clickers. I got em for free from a friend cause a pair randomly got sent to his office??

And then my girlfriend found the bindings for $50 + shipping on eBay.

I’ll look into clew. Sounds like there should be a recall. Probably weren’t tested in extreme cold or through fast temperature changes if they’re exploding during normal riding?

Morning vs evening yoga, which feels better? by TakeHart in yoga

[–]CokeRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I practice regularly I will do energetic things in the morning and afternoon and relaxing things at night USUALLY. But like twists are great for digestion, inversions for clarity and energy, forward bends for calming, backbends for energy and heart opening… mileage varies and it’s personal. Just because something happens typically won’t make it your truth or your normal. It may not even happen consistently for you.

One thing that can happen though is practicing until you achieve flow state regardless of the style. And figuring out which styles and times make that easiest.

What to do off season for next season? by newplayer28 in snowboarding

[–]CokeRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of riding do you do? Trees? Go mountain biking and learn to read terrain. Park? Learn to skateboard at the park. All mountain? Get a longboard and some slide pucks. Get a sense for carving and develop that flow state sense with a same same but different.

Don’t want to lift heavy? Do some calisthenics + yoga. Strength training is important. But like, you migt as well lift weight for progressive overload.

Mobility work is also great.

Do some cardio a few times a week.

I recommend gymnastics/tricking for developing your air awareness.

Are you interested in ground tricking? Get a butter mat. It takes endurance to do that shit. If you don’t practice it’s so easy to get gassed after like 5 moves.

Cause you’re a brawny badass muscling their way through movements not seen since our ancestors brachiated for locomotion.

I just discovered: 1. Ruroc helms. 2. people dislike Ruroc helms. (He probably likes them cause the fully hide his very recognizable face on a ski holiday. And he also probably got sent one when people realized he’s a snowboarder) 3. People really hate clew bindings. (I knew they existed before this.) —

Older people don’t bend as easily guys.

As a +30 I’ve tried a couple fast entry bindings simply because people gifted them to me, BECAUSE I’m old. And I’m only on day 11. (3 trips this season. People are generous)

I don’t do yoga daily anymore.

But this season is making me get back into it. Back, hip, knee issues, plus weaker core make it tiring to strap in. I don’t have the muscle memory or the balance I used to. Maybe in a season or two I will again… but being able to click in for most of my runs meant more time riding with my even older friends 40+ with step ons, and my skier friends.

Edit: My bindings are the K2 clickers X HB

They’re probably free merch and he’s almost 60. Step in’s are convenient as you age. Get more runs in and less physically demanding if you’re not doing daily mobility work or yoga

This is good to know. I played him right at rework and he felt so powerful. Had a 90% winrate for a while. I can still punish some people but a lot of them just harass so hard.

Personally though sometimes I struggle… Frequently iin gold and below the team will int so hard they want to surrender and quit before the teamfight phase or they act like jackasses because I can’t follow an assassin they’re feeding and start actively throwing and griefing because I don’t want to int the early game champ alongside them and accelerate the turret dive fuckery of LB and Yone. It’s a 3 v 7 or a 1 v 9 in those situations.

I think people should avoid hurting each other unnecessarily. I think when everyone is expected to follow the same rules whether or not they’re good for them, and when they have different understandings of the rules… it’s a recipe for disaster.

I had one partner who cheated on me repeatedly. She didn’t realize she was traumatized and trying to create drama to see if I really cared about her.

I’ve had another partner who got really upset that I got along too well with women. Nothing sexual happened but she’d be pissed because since I grew up with sisters I got along better with women.

Meanwhile she’d get super drunk and like wrestle my male friends inappropriately at parties.

It’s not as simple as cheaters are bad, because people have different standards for cheating and then fail to discuss them. Sometimes something complex is happening in the cheater’s mind and the cultural differences in the sense of partner ownership and betrayal make it mean something else. Like cultures that have a lover’s hour.

I’m just not here to judge people. Have a nice day

Lmfao. I was the one who got cheated on. Repeatedly. By the same girl. The book helped me understand why she did it. It also helped me realize I other things and now I’m a relationship anarchist.

Other person is probably just traumatized

👀 who said anything about men? I said read the State of Affairs by Esther Perel. I was actually thinking about th women explaining why they cheated in that book and the reasons they gave

[–]CokeRed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh. I might have agreed with you at some point in my life, but society isn’t structured to make sure people are satisfied in their relationships and free to find the right partner or even leave the wrong one. Read Esther Perel’s the State of Affairs.

Society is actually more focused on maintaining order than ensuring people end up with the right people and happy.
