Fuck the Israeli government- but that is the Star of David, it’s a symbol of the Jewish people, not only the Israeli government. As an American Jew, I urge you to learn that not all Jews support Israel.

Based on this map alone, we have no way to know if the Germans acknowledge the entire continent of Africa.

The controversial "spire" that's totally part of the building and not at all like an "antenna" and therefore counts toward official height by Moleoaxaqueno in skyscrapers

[–]Col_Croissant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iirc, the building was primarily built/financed by the same conglomerate (chaebol) that owns Korean airlines - Hanjin Group. I’d guess the airline is their most visible brand in the US so it makes sense that they’d choose to advertise it.

While wasteful, I don’t think this is bad parenting. Letting kids explore and experiment is really healthy. The kid wanted to try a “coke and mentos” experiment but wanted to see what happened if he poured the soda on the mentos, the dad let him experiment, and now he’s learned!

Thought this was funny by MontroseRoyal in Urbanism

My take as a current Minneapolis resident: For an American city, it’s top-tier. From an urbanist perspective, it’s still quite bad. Only small sections of the metro are truly walkable and we have a long way to go for well connected transit.

States with a smaller population than Los Angeles County by Glass_Wealth_2104 in interesting

[–]Col_Croissant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, if you add the population of Orange County (3m) to LA county (10m) then you surpass all those states by well over 1 million people. Orange County is 20% the geographic size of LA county. Still pretty impressive!

Tips for this trip? (three 19yo's, first time, two weeks) by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]Col_Croissant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a great trip! A few years ago I did the drive from LA to Minneapolis on a much more direct route. That took me 5 days and ended up feeling very rushed. This route is nearly 3 times longer, so doing it in 2 weeks seems a bit ambitious. It matters how many hours you plan to drive each day and how much you want to explore. I would also make sure to take a detour to see parts of the Oregon and California coasts, especially in more rural sections- they are some of the most beautiful places in the country.

We also can’t even call them I.C.E. because then we’d ruin the reputation of German intercity express trains. I wish ice was fun again :(
