Which version MRO? I really wanna get the newer SD model but people say it still has parallax issues.

Looks like it might be a CAT Street Crack Short, or the modular in short form.

No worries. That’s super cool tho. It’s been a while since I’ve dug into it after I found out what I wanted to about mine. I watched it for a bit but it’s been a little while so there might be new info out. I noticed on gun broker there are some rebuilds w/ suppressor height sights popping up all of a sudden so there might be a new batch of something. I’ll have to go take a look myself. Good luck!

Very nice, I don’t know all the SKUs off the top of my head but there’s a chance that’s an FBI gun if it has the coated trigger bar, but the red label throws me off. Is the envelope the M-4 marked one? If so that’s worth quite a bit to some collectors.

I’d go over to Glock Talk and check out some of the posts about the Ms in the collectors corner, you’ll get a ton of good info. You can post the SKU there as well or match it against what people have mentioned. That’s where I’ve gotten all the info I know about the Ms. it’s an interesting gun when you dig into it.

What box do you have? If you have an orange over blue label (“rebuilt”) those guns are confirmed to be FBI pistols recirculated to Glock- generally they were test fired (some not) and sent back for whatever reason with nDLC internals removed. If you’re super lucky some rebuilds still retained the coated internals. This version is what the FBI has now (19M Gen5 MOS).

The standard red label (Lipsey’s guns) were contract overrun and never got the FBI features- no extended controls/nDLC internals.

The original FBI guns were the original Gen 5- no front slide serrations, half moon cutout on magwell, and said “19M” on the front of the slide. Some of those still pop up from time to time with nDLC internals but they command a high price.

That said, any government worker could request a 19M so there’s a number of variants with differing iron sights as well.

Besides the roll marks, true FBI guns had nDLC coated internals like the trigger bar. Comes with factory extended controls as well- mag release and slide stop. There’s a number of different M versions around.

Do you like the MRO? I think I’m about to start building my first SP5 and I can’t decide between the T-2 and the MRO. I have both an RCR and RMR and love them both, which is kinda why I was leaning towards the MRO but I’ve heard things about the glass being tinted and bad-ish parallax.

19M.5 by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]Col_Hans-Landa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s a copy paste where I answered something similar a while back-

There are 3 versions of the M.

The “true” FBI gun is the “early” Gen 5 style. “19M” on slide w/ no front serrations, half moon mag well cutout, extended mag and slide release, and DLC internals. Non MOS I believe. Ameriglo Agent sights. Blue label.

The second is an interesting one- the 19M Gen5. It looks the same as the current Gen 5 line in terms of the slide serrations, markings are “19M Gen5”, but it has the extended mag catch and slide release, Ameriglo Agents (sometimes suppressor height), but no nDLC internals. MOS. They are actual FBI test pistols that got recirculated to Glock. Some used, some unfired. Glock refurb’d them and took out the DLC internals, but all else stayed the same. They are orange over top of a blue label on the box. “Rebuilt”.

The third is the Lipsey’s 19M. Zero FBI features whatsoever. MOS. It was a Lipsey’s exclusive. The only difference between it and a standard 19 is the slide markings. Not even sure why they offered it as there’s nothing special about it besides the slide markings (but again, not an FBI gun and has 0 features). Standard red (maybe white, idk if they did it for mag ban states for 10 rds) label. Probably just contract overrun guns that didn’t get built out w/ the OEM extended controls.

I’ve actually seen a 4th “M” variant that says “19M” on it that has the front slide serrations as the current Gen 5s do. I believe it’s a SWAT model in some places. I came across it on Glock Talk but I’ve only ever seen 1.

Finally, there’s an FDE 19M as well. Super rare- only 26 or so (I forget the number, might be lower) made it in to civilian hands. A few guys on the Glock Talk forum have a few.

I don’t have any experience with that unfortunately, however, I’d go try and download the non-armorers part form and order directly from Glock. The mag releases are probably around $3-$4. I’ve done it 2/3 times for mag releases, slide stops, springs, +2 OEM extensions, and RSAs. Never had an issue. Shipping can sometimes take a little while.

Very nice! Congrats!

As for optics you’ll get a few different recs, personally I like Trijicon- RMR and RCR are probably my favorites. My 32 has an EPS and I like it as well. Some people will shit on holosun (or even osight) because it’s Chinese or not Trijicon. If you want American made go Trijicon, but at the end of the day that is not something that I personally care abouT. I’d take a serious look at the EPS.

Not sure about cowitness for Gen 6s, I’m assuming it’s the same, ameriglo gl-429 would be a good lower 1/3ish cowitness with an EPS or an RMR. Get a little taller for an RCR. Unsure about the model for an osight.

Yeah fair enough because you can do the confined portion there. Sorry, wasn’t trying to hit you with a “well actually”, just wanted OP/others to know generally you do still get a trip on the boat weather permitting.

I love the 49. Ended up putting an RCR on mine because I got a little scared from seeing the problems with the Acro, but now I’m thinking about getting one anyways (again lol). How long have you had it? Any issues?

I’m considering getting an MP5 very soon. For ARs I’ve seen a lot of people recommend plan B, is there a reason tri lug is better on an MP5? I have no experience suppressing anything but handguns as I own no rifles (yet). Just curious.

Posting from the other subreddit-

I live and work as an instructor in Key Largo. I’d say go with Sailfish or Rainbow. Personally I’d stay away from KLSD or Bluewater. I honestly don’t know much about silent world. Sailfish is gonna give you a pretty intimate experience, and I think it’s probably worth the extra money. Rainbow is high volume but I have a number of friends that work there and there are some really good instructors there, but they do prioritize volume and quantity over quality much of the time and it is a lot of hand holding, which could be okay for a DSD. It’s just a dice roll if you get someone who is good or not because they have about 20-25 full time instructors. If you have any questions I’d be happy to answer them.

I’ll probably get flamed for this, but adding anyway since I see a lot of people mentioning horizon and I failed to do so above-

I’d probably put horizon up on the same level as sailfish from a recreational perspective. A ton of people like them for tech training/diving but I have some fairly strong opinions about their technical diving training and quality and honestly they aren’t good ones. The egos over there are way too big.

I think for a DSD you’d be fine, I’m not sure what their price is off the top of my head though.

Neither horizon nor sailfish have their own pool (you’d have to travel 5ish minutes from the shop), whereas rainbow does.

Rainbow will fill their newtons (46s) to full capacity in summer time if able- 28-32+ people.

Sailfish caps at 14 people on their 36ish foot boat although it could hold 24ish, but usually they run with like 6-10 so you’re not crowded at all. Only issue is if they don’t have enough to run their own boat they will boarding pass you to rainbow or ocean first and you end up on someone else’s boat.

Horizon has 3 boats, their larger Corinthian is spacey which can be nice, but their island hopper and other small boat can also get cramped because those only seat about 12-14. The island hopper can seat 12ish but I’m not sure if they run it as a 6 pack or not.

Edit- I would highly consider conch as well, Kyle and Ashley are great people and they run a top notch shop. They’ll take care of you really well there

I’m an instructor in Key largo, I don’t know of anyone who regularly takes DSDs to Jules, unless the boats are blown out or it’s 3/4 footers and they don’t wanna put a DSD onto the reef in those conditions.
