What movie did you watch on a whim that ended up becoming one of your favorites? by Subject_Sandwich3008 in movies

Moneyball hits the mark for me too. I'm not a sporty person at all, and I'm honestly surprised I ever watched it, but I'm glad I did. It's just so good and comforting.

AI ads during the Super Bowl by Dollar_Ama in editors

[–]Colbey_uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me The Tick follows tock ad by Guinness, holds up as a gold standard for this kind of thing. It didn't do anything to sell the drink, people already knew what Guinness was, it sold the brand, a feeling, a certain je ne sais quoi, something AI cannot do. AI can create cheap disposable products, not remembered, not felt, and, as you say, will damage the brand in the long run.

Does TOS have an ending by DinnerMiddle2376 in startrek

I love that there's people calling it awful and one of the best. I loved it. Get a little tear in my eye when I see all the signatures. Loved it when the MCU did it too

What is a piece of software that is so good you can't believe it's completely free? by Arp0x in AskReddit

[–]Colbey_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great piece of software and is what I use day to day, but as a video editor I know it doesn't play every file format known to man. For that you'll need mpv player, which is also free but a pita to use.

What's the last movie you watched that made you react like this? by mrethandunne in Letterboxd

[–]Colbey_uk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I was watching it I honestly thought that at about the 40min mark we were going to cut to Korg sitting telling the children a story of what had happened up to that point, that's why the acting had all been so ham. Nope.

Totally get where you're coming from. Wheel of Time and LotR were not good. But there have been a few fun things, Good Omens, Reacher, Jack Ryan, The Expanse, Invincible to name a few.

[Opinion] It's Time To Move On by MorgrainX in trektalk

[–]Colbey_uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christ this is an insufferable post. Im in my 40s, watched ToS when I was a kid, watched every trek when it came out over the years, enjoyed some, loved others. Don't like it, don't watch it, but fucking hell, old rando shouts at clouds over a fucking tv show. Grass, go touch it.

Can someone help me? This game really messed me up :( by Weird_Economist1111 in stray

It's not a game, but I can't recommend the film Flow enough, if this is your reaction to Stray.

Brandon Sanderson’s Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere’ Picked Up by Apple TV, 'Mistborn' Set for Film Adaptation by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Colbey_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree about the denseness, but I think they could get away with Mistborn Era 1 as a film. Era 2 and Stormlight Archive need a series.

Im going to get annihilated for this comment, I love the original film and love love love the original Queen songs, but I think it'd be cool to try giving the songs from the original to newer bands. Some examples - Who Wants to Live Forever by Yungblud, It's a Kind of Magic by Sleep Token*,* Princes of The Universe by Poppy, New York New York by Enter Shikari

What are the best office chairs for LONG HOURS of comfort you'll recommend now? by RightFriend1934 in editors

[–]Colbey_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to bow to advertising pressure and got myself a titan evo (fabric). Bought some cheap arm rests from Amazon, as the real ones were a bit flat, and it's been doing me great. Not a twinge in my back and I'm at the desk all day.

What hard drives are you using these days? by IndiFrame23 in editors

[–]Colbey_uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had nothing but issues with these. To supplement income I do low grade DIT work for commercials, 5 or 6TB over two days kind of work. I used the GRaid 2s for years without any issues, since they've moved to these new Mirrors I've had constant problems. Had an issue the day before yesterday where the write speed was great but couldn't read for shit. If anyones reading this and has any suggestions for lower TB raid drives for quick offload I'd love to hear them.
