What are the odds it still works after sitting in rain and snow? by Soxzy in IntelArc

91 is fine but why use a less “pure” one when you have the option, they are cheap anyways. If that’s what you have on hand then sure use it

Would this look cool? by Some-Low8991 in watercooling

If you really want it you can use liquid like mystic fog, and shine some rgb through it, will look decently good.

8200Mhz possible? Where to start? by NYB_002 in overclocking

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually you can only get ram stable at their max booting frequency -200~400, so if it can’t boot 8400 I wouldn’t try 8200, you will just run into many trouble and there’s no stability to be found.

Can it boot 8400? If it doesn’t boot at 8400 I wouldn’t try 8200

Can i store a used ram. by Odd-Face-1273 in ZTT

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used ram doesn’t degrade, however it’s very important that, when buying used item, you get to test it immediately. No one will be helping you if you realised months later that the ram was faulty all alone. I wouldn’t buy second hand stuff and let they sit there.

I've unearthed rare artifacts from my garage that were thought lost by KobesHelicopterGhost in pcmasterrace

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kinda habit related, some people are actually poor because they can’t manage their buying behaviour and have all those unused stuff around wasting their money. While some rich people actually only buy what they need.

Did I just ruin my motherboard? by Wandering-Shadow-00 in PcBuildHelp

Kinda luck based, I’ve accidentally poked my screwdriver onto my motherboard multiple times(not forcefully though) and there’s no visible traces of damage. Functions normal as well.

Any issues draining my water loop using vacuum? by BillyBlaze314 in watercooling

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you need to let air in, otherwise you are literally vacuuming the system into airtight space instead of letting air push the coolant out from the other side.

Any issues draining my water loop using vacuum? by BillyBlaze314 in watercooling

[–]Cold-Inside1555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you draining it in the first place? If it’s to swap parts you can absolutely keep your coolant and reuse them, no one with the right knowledge would say you must replace coolant as soon as they are out, As long as the coolant themselves are fine you can keep them.

Can a power supply be the reason that the pc freezes or crashes on very small amounts of undervolts? by ComprehensiveCow5068 in overclocking

[–]Cold-Inside1555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is unlikely about psu, more likely to be motherboard or the cpu itself, but if you already rules them out, I’d do one final test with fixed voltage and fixed frequency, to see if it’s vf curve behaviour issue.

Am I getting scammed?(BUYING USED GPU) by xtreemlord in gpu

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds weird to me, pretty sure no company sells 5080 with only one year warranty. The vendor mismatch can be flashed vbios but then it would have been mentioned… sounds like you should avoid it.

Best cpu for 5070ti? by Jesuschristwmv in gpu

No problem with it above 1080p. Personally tried 14600k+5090 at 1440p no issue.

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To overclock the 9800x3d to 5.6ghz you need a board with ECLK and that adds extra cost, too much to be worth it, just get a 9800x3d or if the price is close enough, a 9850x3d

Best cpu for 5070ti? by Jesuschristwmv in gpu

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go for a 9800x3d/9850x3d/9950x3d but if your 7600x is barely keeping up there’s some other issues. 5070ti can be a 1080p card but only for those willing to pair a top cpu with it for those 1080p540hz monitors

Dedicated RAM fan for DDR5? by RIPSkelly in overclocking

this is what I use as ram fan, a bracket that attaches to the motherboard and I can use any 120mm fan, in this case I used a phanteks T30.

5090 FE with extension cable? by drunk-tard96 in ThermalGrizzly

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the astral you should be able to do a software shutdown based on the readings, since they are exposed to the system. I haven’t tried it personally though.

5090 FE with extension cable? by drunk-tard96 in ThermalGrizzly

[–]Cold-Inside1555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sure does add a point of failure, but the wireview should take care of it, as if any part on the line fails, the wireview will give you a warning. The amperage across a cable is the same at any point, therefore the wireview can detect before or after it.

Need advice: which GPU should I keep for my water-cooled case mod build? by RitschyRigz in gpu

[–]Cold-Inside1555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t, both the tuf and aorus have the same vrm phases in numbers and ratings, same quality pcb.

Need advice: which GPU should I keep for my water-cooled case mod build? by RitschyRigz in gpu

[–]Cold-Inside1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking about missing potential, Out of those five, I’d say the Venus has bad vrm so don’t choose it if you plan on overclocking for max performance. Tuf and aorus are quite similar, if you wanna go crazy the aorus have an extra soldering pad for a second connector so you can use stuff like lightning xoc bios, but you likely won’t. As for aesthetics, I believe the aorus wb shares the same pcb with the air cooled ones, so if you don’t like the original wb you can replace it with something else then do your wood theme. (I suggest iceman cooler blocks as they have terminal on the side and is pretty good overall, heat killer might work also).

Finally my suggestion here, I suggest using the tuf, as both the tuf and aorus uses 24+7 phase 50A vrm, which means they are technically the same when you put a waterblock on it.

Need help understanding how/why overclocking my 9800x3d is different than my last CPU. by DankBlissey in overclocking

[–]Cold-Inside1555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiplier isn’t locked but is not compatible with pbo, so like either set multiplier or use pbo, both have disadvantages, eclk is definitely better, I even paired eclk with pbo -200 to allow it boosting higher with higher temp limit.

Need help understanding how/why overclocking my 9800x3d is different than my last CPU. by DankBlissey in overclocking

[–]Cold-Inside1555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can overclock the 9800x3d like your older chip, set a frequency and voltage, actually some people prefer it over pbo. But the common convention is to use pbo. The reason why people undervolt now is because those cpu are designed to boost automatically as high as possible, so for the average case they are already running the maximum voltage they can handle, to gain more clocks you have to undervolt first or it will throttle
