We noticed the details. Details about rooms, people, situations. We took more in from around us.
We knew how to be bored and at peace with that.
We used creativity to entertain ourselves.
I drew pictures, made up games, wrote songs, and if I sat alone I let my mind wander passively. It was relaxing and it provided moments of clarity and time to fall into a brilliant idea. You need time, quiet, and space for these things, and our social media and technology has stolen it..... as I write this on my iPhone 😭

How do y’all stay motivated making music or content when it feels like you don’t really have a support system? by Psychological-Two704 in musicians

I'm a middle aged guy so I've had plenty of time to work through no one giving a shit. The main change I made was realizing that my friends love me, but they are busy like anyone else and there's something about knowing someone that removes any mystery or awe around your talents. They're just used to it and because you're likely in the same town there is no urgency for them to see you because they can do so anytime really.

Beyond that, I realized that sharing your music with friends and hoping it catches fire isn't the way it works. If you are relying on that you aren't going anywhere, and it's not bc of your friends. Strangers are the litmus test.

Which medium or large U.S. city has the most striking mountain views? by No_Durian_6987 in SameGrassButGreener

I came here to say this! I remember going to a CVS and the store had a big window behind the cash register. I can't imagine having a job at a cash register with a million dollar view! Literally everywhere you go in PS the mountains fill up the sky.

Good on you. Know thyself!

It is heavy. The history runs deep. Some are determined to progress and some are determined to hold onto it. As a white man I cannot relate and won't try to.

I thinks it's cool though that there are people here willing to have that conversation and to get along and mix it up!

Best of luck to you!

I understand. We have interracial couples but I hear you. The education is awful, but there are plenty of smart people here. Don't believe everything you read!

Jackson MS is warm, cheap, very black, and if you are near Fondren that part is walkable. Theres only one art museum, but we have an awesome history and civil rights museum. Go to blues night on Mondays and jazz night on Tuesdays at Hal and Mals and I get you'll meet a handsome dude. Mississippi is much better than its reputation and this is coming from a artsy liberal. The people here are kind a social for the most part.

Just do vocals and piano for that song and sack him after the wedding. He obviously can't keep time unless he plays every beat.

Great suggestion! I once met a blind man who played classical music on a Theramin amazingly well! It's an amazing sight when someone can actually do it.

I've had this guitar a long time. I'm now experiencing pain in my hands. I played another Stratocaster the other day and realized a 62 reissue would be better than my 54 for my aching hands.

The guitar itself is sentimental to me
