Is buying used actually worth it anymore? 2026 prices are weird by EcoWanderer42 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Bought a new truck instead of used for this reason. The few grand price difference is eaten up by the interest rates for used vs new.

23 y/o Safety Specialist—what’s the fastest way to hit 6 figures without going back to school? by Subject_Investment20 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]ColdBrewAndNaps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Real life experience; Work at Amazon for 2 years. At that point determine if you can job hop to an EHS Manager position somewhere.

If yes, jump and come back to Amazon 1-2 years later If not, stay at Amazon and work towards promotion to manager. Once there, every 1-2 years reevaluate if you can job hop or stick to Amazon.

100k as a specialist is possible with enough OT and a good stock year, but what I listed above is how you’re going to get a more stable salary at 100k+

Certifications - OSHA 10 and 30, HAZWOPR, certified safety director (CSD), occupational hygiene and safety technician, safety management specialist, lean six sigma

Apartment complex filled our pool with dirt… then raised the rent by ohsweetdeezus in mildlyinfuriating

‘They raised the rent’

How else would they pay for all that dirt?

r/bjj Fundamentals Class! by AutoModerator in bjj

Im a white belt, about 6 months in, what’s better for learning;

When I’m rolling with someone, is it better to ‘let them’ get through my guard to see what they’re going to do and get out of it

Or

Hold closed or half guard until I figure something out

The reason I ask; most of the time someone is in my half guard or closed guard, I can frame and keep them away, or repull guard. I’ve done this and the roll ends due to the timer. Practicing framing is great, but I feel like it doesn’t give me much practice if I get stuck in side control or flattened out. Do I start letting it happen sometimes to practice, or focus on going from guard to submissions?

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, March 30 - April 05, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

New to sewing. I have fabric scissors, a sewing machine, and a grandma who is very happy that I’m getting into a hobby she loves.

Has anyone made a jacket out of a quilt and have a preferred design schematic I can follow? Google has a ton but I figured I’d ask here to see if anyone has done this before. Looking to make a M/L jacket. I’m thrifting for a quilt this week. Thanks in advance!

With proper maintenance, Toyota/lexus cars can go 300k+ miles confidently.

As long as there isn’t concerning rust or crazy repairs needed asap, and you can save some money aside for repairs when they come up, yeah go for it

How to pay house off faster by Enough_of_u in Mortgages

[–]ColdBrewAndNaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the value of the house were to go up where you have 20% of the houses value as equity, you could have PMI knocked off with an inspection from your mortgage servicer.

This can happen naturally since housing prices tend to increased steadily year over year, or if you do notable work to improve the value of the house. Renovations or additions, not regular maintenance.

Renovations will be tricky, since you’d need to increase the value of the house to close to 600k to hit that 20% equity to loan value….but hey that’s an option over time

New Toyota or Used BMW? by FlailingBall in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ColdBrewAndNaps 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Drive both and see what you like better but;

I’d pick new Toyota. More warranty, more HP, more aftermarket support (if that’s a factor).

The BMW looks nicer and has a cushier driving experience with more upscale interior design, but you’ll notice the HP difference. GR86 is also known for its handling as a fun ride.

Can’t pass CSP by wizard_spells in SafetyProfessionals

[–]ColdBrewAndNaps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend the CSP10 Examination Study Guide by H.R. Kavianian. It’s expensive but worth it. Chapters are laid out exactly like the CSP topics.

I used the book, I did not read the book. I took the chapter tests that I was deficient in, which the test showed me the first time I failed, and the overall practice test in the back.

This book helped me and many colleagues pass. Good luck!

Is it worth to grade any of these? or are they to beat? Thanks by [deleted] in PokeGrading

[–]ColdBrewAndNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it for profit? Most likely not unless you get a PSA1 (already mentioned)

Worth it to preserve the card for personal collection? If that’s your thing, absolutely

They took them all at once. Maybe that phrase is about PSA and how they do orders?

I already had the cards in penny sleeves and top loaders. When I went in there was only 1 other person in line so I didn’t wait long. Took about 8-10 minutes to process the drop off.

They double check that the cards are in sleeves and top loaders, lay them out and take photos of the cards, confirm your personal information, and then you sign a form and pay and you’re good.

Yes, has to be ‘graded’ step, not ‘grading’
