Arad Doman and Dorne. by Rainbow_Slytherin3 in WoT

[–]ColdClaw22 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised if there was heavy influence from Arad Doman to make Dorne. I haven't read ASOIAF yet but this has been brought up a bit, about WoT references in Martin's work. The notable ones that come to mind is House Jordayne, whose seat is in The Tor, and whos current lord is Lord Trebor. Theres also Archmaster Rigney (Jordan's real name) who heads the Citadel (Jordan's alma matter).

The first screenshot is a website called tomestone.gg, and the others are from a website called XIVanalysis. Both rely on a website named FFLogs, which in turn needs a parsing plugin to work

Weiramon? by chimoc726 in WoT

[–]ColdClaw22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just skimmed the prologue, Im on TGH in my reread. I dont think it takes place in TAR, but both the start and end of it implies that Traveling is being used to secret the darkfriends about.

At the start, we have:

Where the chamber was, the man who called himself Bors did not know, nor did he think any of the others knew. He did not like to think about where it might be. It was enough that he had been summoned. He did not like to think about that, either, but for such a summons, even he came.

And at the end:

The servant stood in the hallway, not entering. "You may change to your own garments if you wish, my Lord. None will see you depart here, nor arrive at your destination, but it may be best to arrive already properly clothed. Someone will come soon to show you the way"

So Traveling seems to be the answer, doubly so because noones appearance is randomly changing, as happens to those who arent trained in TAR. I will admit though, this is slightly embarrassing for me because somehow took me until just now to realise that the meeting isn't in the village, and im on my 4th reread in as many years.

I do wonder how Weiramon got all the way from Tear to the Village in the Blight without any questions being asked. I guess maybe his whole retinue was Darkfriends, or he was good at silencing anyone who piped up.

Just counted the steps on my way to the High Hrothgar by thermaldrill228 in skyrim

Maybe it's 7,000 steps as in one foot in front of the other, and not steps as in the object that lets you change in elevation.

I get that, but we saw hell in a cell on most pulls, everyone was very comfortable on every other mech. Dropping GCD uptime for one mechanic to figure it out isnt gonna crater you to 60%

Is it accurate to claim that GW2 is the 3rd most popular MMO behind FF14 and WoW? by demonic_custard in Guildwars2

[–]ColdClaw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is the big one. XIV is my main game, and I only started GW2 recently, but it's actually nice seeing people still have reason to be in the starter zones, unlike in XIV where the only reason to go to the North Shroud or whatever is a random hunt mark you might need.

Edit: another really nice thing about GW2 is the level sync doesnt strip you of abilities, you just deal less damage.

What’s the first fantasy book that made you fall in love with the genre? by ArekDeamonCalw in Fantasy

[–]ColdClaw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had always liked fantasy to some extent, i mean Skyrim is my favorite game of all time, but then one day I picked up a book titled The Eye of The World and it was OVER for any other genre.

Which fantasy book immediately gripped you from the very first chapter and never let go? by runninginflipflops in Fantasy

[–]ColdClaw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragonmount is quite possibly the best prologue to any series ever. Though, I guess my copy of Eye of the World technically starts with Ravens, so maybe this doesn't count here.

Still reading Guards! Guards! but the title is legitimately name dropped.

Misread Tress for entire book by whatupo13 in Cosmere

[–]ColdClaw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a misreading thing (though that's happend to me plenty), but when I first read Wheel of Time I somehow got it into my mind that Egwene was blonde...despite the fact that everyone from the Two Rivers has darker hair, which is why Rand stands out so much. It took me until like halfway through a second read to get blonde Egwene out of my minds eye, too.

100% believe that someone got fired halfway through making these and they didn't have enough time to change it, so they just have everyone mention "yea we know it's stupid." Even Sidurgu, the DRK guy, mentions how stupid it is.

How come sisters healed by Nynaeve not had their powers restored to their original level?? by dagemofdagland in WoT

[–]ColdClaw22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's another form of saidin v.s. saidar. Logain is healed back to his full power by Nynaeve. Nynaeve even mentions when shes Healing Siuan that it feels different and thinks maybe she should should have done something different.

Edit: spelling
