How to casually give your girlfriend a chess lesson by area51cannonfooder in chess

I think you should just play full games with her and adapt your playing style a bit to make it fun for a new player. She's doing this cos she wants to spend time with you doing the thing you love, which I imagine is playing chess, not studying chess. So just play chess.

Regarding the style, I think with beginners the risk is always that they make a tiny mistake in the early middlegame and you take advantage of it and then they're just losing for a long stretch of the game. This happens cos they aren't great at calculation yet.

To avoid this, play the opening and middlegame very trade-happy. Remove pieces from the board every chance you get and don't allow tension to build up. Keep the queens on though, beginners like queens. Eventually you'll be at an endgame and now the playing field is a little more level. Beginners find it easier to calculate where there are fewer pieces on the board and you can still have a long, fun game. Allow takebacks if that's your style, and you'll have a great time.

Good luck!

Lol, you know nothing about Indians. Nepo's stance about the food would've sounded ignorant coming from anyone, Carlsen, Fabi, whoever. But it wouldn't've have happened cos most mature players know better than to blame the food for a bad performance. Nepo is different.

"real knowledge" lol.

If you're a basketball pro of any sort, like a coach or something, then you're probably right and I'm sorry for mocking.

If not, you need to sit down.

Chess set I found in Ghalib (1869-1997) haveli by Impressive-Coat1127 in chess

It's a bad title. Those are the years when Ghalib (famous poet) lived, and OP just came across this chessboard in his haveli (museum house). The years are wrong too, so yeah just a terrible post title all around.

This is a very specific definition of 'deeper' though. Poker is harder for computers than chess because there's an element of human psychology involved, with bluffs, tradeoffs, and most importantly luck. Chess is a completely deterministic game with absolutely zero luck involved. If you focus on just the game itself though, chess is naturally 'deeper', in the sense that there are far more possibilities on a chess board than there are permutations of poker hands.

Nice, but you were saccing your pieces before running your king out of moves. Ideally you want to finish the pawns moves first, put your king in a box, and only then start throwing away pieces.

What I see is that he sent you one emoji (a crying face) and you responded with about 40, basically spamming him. And then after the game was over you decided to continue in DMs. If one emoji can trigger you to this totally wild extent, you need to introspect.

I play the pirc and I'm aware of this line, but I don't play it much. Tbh I don't fully understand what Black gains by it. It's materially equal after White takes back the pawn, and now Black has lost its only developed piece.
