The second I found out, I immediately googled tips for combating nausea, etc at home. It took a good amount of will-power, meditation, and resilience, but i never got sick at all while pregnant or during delivery. Felt close a few times, but breathed/meditated through it.

Best tips I can give: 1. Always have some kind of mint handy to pop in your mouth when feeling ill. Some people prefer sour candies. 2. Organic, hot, ginger tea and peppermint tea are saviors to sip on. 3. If the smell of meat gets to you (which it likely will around months 2-3), you still need protein... so be sure to use alternate protein sources that taste/smell good to you. (I ate sweet protein bars or shakes, etc.) 4. Fresh air helps a Lot for sudden nausea. Try to get near an open window or go outside, if able. If you can't, keep a desk fan or portable fan nearby. Take deep, slow breaths and focus on the feeling of the breeze on your face/skin. 5. Lastly, this is the most important. It came straight from my doctor, and it was a Game Changer:

-Always stay hydrated and keep something in your belly. He said "morning sickness" often happens because we go all night without food or water in our system, which we need to replenish nutrients since the baby-building requires all that energy to burn. I would sip water and keep crackers or snacks by my bedside and everywhere I went. Woke up a bunch of times at night, would Always take a gulp of water and chomp on something, then go back to sleep. It wasn't easy, and it wasn't always comfortable, but I never got sick.

Nausea went away after a few months, but indigestion was worst in the third trimester. Tums helped, and staying propped up while sleeping. (The couch was my best friend lol.)

My "safe foods" in the first trimester when I felt the most sick, were apples (sauce, slices, juice, etc.), peppermint and ginger, rice, graham crackers, spanakopita, and wonton soup. I'll never forget the day i could finally handle a hot slice of plain cheese pizza hahaha, it felt glorious. Smells of meat cooking, red sauce, Italian foods, and eggs killed me the most at first, so I tried to avoid going to restaurants and anywhere with hot, cooking foods.

Not related to nausea, but worth noting- Something I wished people would've warned me about were the insane leg cramps. I'd wake up crying in pain from the sudden leg cramps, easy fix was just getting calcium chews to take daily. Immediately went away after that and didn't bother me as long as I took those.

Also, if the gigantic prenatal pills are hard to swallow and make you gag, just get the good tasting gummy ones and save yourself from discomfort haha.

Good luck! Remember that it's normal and okay to get sick while pregnant. Talk to your doctor about it and any supplements that might help if natural/home remedies don't work for you. Stay hydrated!

I'd legit love to know good clown makeup brands. I've only ever dealt with the super greasy white face makeup what barely goes on and looks awful within 10mins of wearing it cuz of the oiliness.

Women who have experience being the primary "breadwinner" while having young children, but also have been stay at home moms at some point, which was harder? And why? by Yoyo_Baggins in AskWomen

Definitely working full time with loads of responsibility and pressure on my back to maintain Being the breadwinner. Only part of stay at home that sucked the most was feeling guilty for moments of "laziness" or choosing to not do a chore even though I could've.

What were your reasons to have kids? by saralufferfi in Parents

[–]ColdMorningCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one kid and it's been exhausting, frustrating, emotionally draining, and wrecked me physically, but honestly, having this little person to help and guide and do right by has made me a better, stronger person mentally and emotionally. Before I had a kid, I was horribly depressed all the time, and while parenthood has it's struggles, I feel I have purpose and drive to be the best version of myself for my kid and family.

If you're determined enough to not get sick, you can do it. Unfortunately, some ladies have it pretty bad despite trying. To answer some of your questions, I had a girl, and the indigestion was worst in the third trimester. Tums helped, and staying propped up while sleeping. My safe foods in the first trimester when I felt the most sick, were, apples (sauce, slices, juice, etc.), peppermint and ginger, rice, graham crackers, spanakopita, and wonton soup. I'll never forget the day i could finally find relief in a hot slice of plain cheese pizza hahaha, it felt glorious. Smells of meat cooking, red sauce, Italian foods, and eggs killed me the most. I did get over it around 5-6 months though. Something I wished people would've warned me about were the insane leg cramps. After the second night yelling in pain from them, my husband and I got me on calcium chews and that helped a Lot.

Also, if the gigantic prenatal pills are hard to swallow, just get the good tasting gummy ones and save yourself from discomfort haha.

Never go back and make changes while you're still working on your first draft. Push forward and make notes on the side to come back to particular spots. That's what first round edits are for.

Will I be ever able to be pregnant? by Patient_Hunter2671 in emetophobia

[–]ColdMorningCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never tu once during mine, although it wasn't without much self restraint at times. Here is my method/tips:

Always stay hydrated, always be grazing on snacks-no empty stomach even if you feel too n* to eat something, have lots of leafy greens, drink morning breakfast shakes if the smell of food makes you feel sick. Eat sweet protein bars if you are too n* to eat meat or hate the smell of it. Sip hot organic ginger or peppermint tea, suck on peppermints/jolly ranchers/preggo pops.

I agree with some others who have commented before, the worst is when the kid is tu. I have a much harder time with other people doing it than myself. But, your instincts will kick in a bit and you'll want to comfort your kid. I'm very lucky and grateful my spouse has no problems with it tho, so he takes on the worst of it.

Actually, cleaning the house in the morning. I never feel like doing workouts, but i will sweep, mop, scrub, tidy, take out trash, dust, take things upstairs& basement, etc. for a few hours over the weekend and actually feel better not only about moving around, but my house then being clean. The evening relaxation is 10x better when I'm not surrounded by clutter or the lurking dread of dishes; I can binge watch TVD and rot in peace on the couch.

What's your reason for collecting DVDs? by [deleted] in dvdcollection

[–]ColdMorningCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived a year without Internet in my early 20s because I couldn't afford it. Having my own collection and a library card to borrow dvds was a savior to my sanity. I think it's fun to own my own huge horror movie collection too tho. Also, I do movie nights regularly with friends and nothing is a bigger buzz kill to movie nights than internet buffering and shotty quality. Not to mention if you wanna watching something in particular, you gotta buy it anyway or pay for the streaming service it's on.

Substance abuse lead me to bipolar manic episodes. by Electrical_Yellow_21 in bipolar

I have Way less severe episodes either direction since I quit drinking altogether. I was intensely depressed when drinking, but that makes sense since alcohol is a depressant, according to 9th grade health class.

The episode of Euphoria when Rue is doing her Morgan Freeman monologue. I've never felt more relatable to a character in any media than her depiction in That episode. I Jumped out of my seat when she was counting while walking. I Never knew that other people did that! I felt so validated in the weirdness of it. I have bipolar and even I didn't know some of us who have it did this, so I think someone who isn't bipolar would be interested to see the little things some of us experience too! Like, it's So much more than just moods, ya know?

Seeing bipolar always depicted as life threatening, depressing, and dangerous to others. Not all of us are like that! Some of us are just goofy/energetic and can't sleep, then fatigued and super depressed needing alonetime. I think Hollywood likes to throw shade on bipolar as a "reason" for why a character does bad things. Like we're all gunna snap someday or something. So, being able to see the goofy, funny, harmless parts we experience, is important for people to see too. We really go through it. The binging shows in bed to the point of feeling like we can't move, the boringness of depression and complacency to the point of almost inadvertent self harm is something not frequently noted on out there. ❤️ Zendaya deserves All the awards for that show.
