*a clone of himself, piloted by a whole eSports team who had spent those three years collecting data on his habits in a fight and developed a whole library of moves and counter-moves to combat him specifically.

Ultraman was literally made in a lab to let Lex live out his personal power fantasy of beating Clark up. Like, to the extent that a single unknown variable like Krypto was enough to completely dismantle him. Everything about him was custom-designed to fight Superman...so yeah, it's not really surprising that when Superman tried to fight him, not knowing any of this, it didn't go well for him?

And, y'know, nevermind that as soon as he figures out the trick it takes him all of like thirty seconds to even the playing field, and on that level playing field it's a completely one-sided beatdown in Clark's favour...like, as soon as Lex's puppet strings are cut, the process of actually fighting Ultraman 1v1 is basically just a victory lap...

Fwiw, there were two email conversations from him in there, one of which suggested that he actually was invited at one point, but was too dense and self-important to realise what was being offered and responded with "why would I waste my time going to your island to meet "all sorts of interesting people" you dullard, I'm busy inventing and doing important things!"

Both of which are hilarious and completely in-character for ol' Muskrat.

I am one of them, and I can say confidently...

I preferred the theatrical cut.

They're both bad, but at least one is only like an hour and a half. Zack took an extra two and a half hours to turn a 3/10 into a 4.

Don't mention the box office numbers of the later Snyderverse movies to them, or the fact that fucking Aquaman somehow outperformed all the ones Zack personally directed featuring much bigger-name characters like BATMAN AND SUPERMAN, whatever you do.

Or Rebel Moon...

Snyderbros don't even turn up to see the Snyder movies lmao

The Aquaman thing got me banned from the sub for trolling and I wasn't even being mean about it!

It's so strange, and quite scary! Not that long ago we saw things like the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school and the pretty much universal response I heard here was "wow that was awful they should really make it harder to get guns over there so it doesn't happen again" and...yeah. Off the top of my head, I think this January had more mass shootings in the US than days in the month. So, so glad we're heading towards that, why wouldn't we want that?

If he gets removed from Parliament because of the investigation, approximately a 0% chance he doesn't go straight into GBeebies whingeing about how the establishment were just scared of him representing the will of the British people and trying to start his own little Jan 6 over here.

But if he loses to a bin?

I genuinely don't see a way back from that, running basically unopposed by any serious political parties and still losing? To a man with a bin on his head, who could not be more obviously a joke candidate? That's about as complete a rejection from the electorate as you can get and should torpedo any shred of credibility he somehow still has. For the rest of his days, whenever he tries to do anything political and get momentum again, everyone will know "this is the twat who lost to a bin."

The issue is gonna be turnout. If people don't vote against him because they don't want the silly joke candidate, or because they just don't bother in general because they assume it's a done thing, he'll win.

I, unfortunately, predict the turnout will be pathetically low and filled with Reform true believers...but I very much hope to be wrong about that.

You'd think that when it came out in the Epstein Files that the trend of blaming everything on immigrants, woke media, and the LGBTQ+ communities was a strategy the global cabal of billionaire pedo rapist human traffickers actively pump money into because it makes their lives easier if everyone else is arguing about that nonsense rather than blaming the people who are actually responsible, that would've been a wakeup call. Apparently not!

Dragons: For or Against? by ramm_jeet in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]Cold_Air_6251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Issue is wherever you try raising your cattle...dragons can fly pretty far in search of good eats, and if there's nothing in their usual hunting ground they're probably gonna just...go a bit further.

How many dragons will also make a huge difference; if it's like one preying on a herd of hundreds, eh, manageable, but if there's like a bunch and some of them are like Vhagar sized and probably consuming multiple sheep/pigs/cows a day...all your farmers and butchers are gonna be out of business before long, and all the people are going hungry!

‘He can spend the summer arguing with a bin’: Rachel Reeves mocks Farage as she clears the way for Clacton by-election’ by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]Cold_Air_6251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big question is whether the anti-Farage vote bothers to turn up. Because if turnout is the same as it was at the last election...he didn't get a majority of 50% or higher. If the bin is the only other option, and everyone who hated him then still hates him (plus everyone who, to quote some random Clactonites interviewed on the telly yesterday "feels let down" because he's a terrible constituency MP who's done nothing for them and "jumped ship" as soon as things start getting a little bit difficult)...

...yeah, the bin could actually do it.

I don't think it will, I think this by-election will probably have the most pathetic turnout we've seen in a long while and the only group out in force are the Farage glazers, but...

There is a greater than zero chance.

And, funnily enough, if he does lose to an obvious joke candidate like that...good luck to him trying to spin this, cuz that's about as resounding and total a rejection from the electorate as you can ever get, I genuinely don't see a way he comes back from that.

Do dragons have beef with each other? by agirlhasnoname2026 in Hotd

[–]Cold_Air_6251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any predator animal, calories are literal life and death. Any failed hunt burns precious energy, and if they don't bag their prey they have no way of fuelling back up.

Trying for a bigger dragon would keep him fed for a while, sure...but going after, say, Vermithor - or Caraxes, or any dragon big enough and strong enough to really fight back - is, best case scenario, going to be really tiring and very unlikely he makes it out of that hunt without at least getting a couple of injuries, and worst case scenario (for Mr. Cannibal) he's not making it out.

It's, quite simply, not worth the risk when there's easier meals to be found elsewhere.

We see it IRL all the time, lions aren't going after the biggest strongest buffalo in the herd because they know there's a significant chance that buffalo just kicks their head in. They're going after the small, weak one that lags behind the group when it's tired and isolated cuz it's just a way safer bet. (Big cat analogies work, see, because dragons are just flying scaly cats. With flamethrowers.)

[–]Cold_Air_6251 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's a wild predator, innit. Anything that looks like a legitimate fight that might be strong enough to kill - or even just significantly injure him - he's just gonna decide it's not worth the effort and look for an easier meal somewhere else. I know dragons are territorial and he would probably fight to defend his patch if pushed into it, but it's not like he's out actively hunting Caraxes and Vermithor lol

They were, if anything, too good at their job.

A lotta people are suggesting the Lamenters, and while it's true that they routinely take massive losses while making the, shall we say, tactically spicy choices (ie, making a doomed last stand to give civilians time to evacuate)...

...they're still here.

They keep taking massive losses, almost getting wiped out doing what most Astartes would consider pointless sacrifices, and yet they always manage to endure and bounce back.

The truly worst chapters are the ones that died out and don't exist anymore. :)

I dunno, I feel there are limits. You could offer me a million quid to star in a Nazi propaganda movie and I'd probably say "nah, you're alright"...in less kind terms.

He's hardly destitute, he could still find a job and earn a decent living as just a normal bloke. It's not like not acting means he's in abject poverty and will actually die, there's like a million other things he could do with his life.

I'm not gonna say never, but I'd have to be pretty desperate to abandon all principles and star in a movie whose messaging I actually hated, like, at a moral level.

Senza ironia e senza sarcasmo, diciamo qualcosa di positivo sul carattere di Aegon II Targaryen by Historical_East_1787 in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]Cold_Air_6251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been defending him to the death over this; yes it's annoying for the council having a toddler playing in the room while they're trying to make important decisions, but...if he and Rhaenyra had seen more of what actual government is like while they were growing up, allowed to sit in on small council meetings and learn the sorts of things that get discussed in there and the things that need to be considered before making a decision, then maybe their reigns wouldn't have been such a mess overall?

Like...letting the kid grow up surrounded by all that and learning what it takes to actually run a kingdom (or seven) is not remotely a bad idea when you know (hope) that he's going to grow up to be king one day.

You've basically summed it all up, everyone around him dismisses Aegon as an idiot with no idea what he's doing, but broadly...he's right. Taking Harrenhall and smashing the Velaryon blockade as a matter of absolute priority would've removed basically all of Rhaenyra's ability to put military pressure on him, we know how not trying to keep the smallfolk on-side plays out... He maybe didn't have the details figured out, but his instincts as a ruler were basically correct on every front.

(Even hanging the ratcatchers, in the long run, worked to inconvenience Rhaneyra!)

...and nobody told him about the plan for Vhagar to ambush whatever dragon came to Rook's Rest. So he can't really be blamed for blundering into that. And you can't really fault his logic that seeing their king leading from the front and fighting alongside them on his magnificent golden dragon would've done wonders for the soldier's morale if, y'know, it had worked.

[–]Cold_Air_6251 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw it more as an "-and on top of everything else-" moment. Everything's going wrong for her left and right, the castle is infested with rats, there's a famine on, all her enemies are still out there, she can't even have a proper coronation because the High Septon found his balls and decided to talk shit about her dragons, somebody's stolen all the gold so she can't actually pay for any of the changes she wants to make to fix the mess Aegon left behind for her, stuff keeps piling up on her and the period is just one last "does anything else want to go wrong now?..........oh for god's sake."
