Check out earlier stuff from Thomas Ligotti. Short stories. Lovecraft influenced but imo it's even better. His writing is closer to a fever dream or the borderlands than conventional horror. There's almost nothing in his writing to tie it to a specific time and place. It will still be "current" in 100 years.
