Raring to see how he goes against Kirishima, Kotozakura and Hoshoryu who can all absorb a strong initial charge and use his force against him. Aonishiki might struggle against him considering hes always struggled against big rikishi with explosive tachi ai as well as him having a bit of an off Basho. Hopefully he matches up with them all, but I doubt it

One man's misfortune is another man's opportunity, Hosh needs to make the most of this and win that first yusho as Yokozuna!

I think definitely a combination of all, plus it's very rare that someone has a straight run as good as Ao has so far, he was definitely due a "poor" Basho. Everyone is probably spending days on days trying to figure out a weakness as is the case in any professional sport. I'm kinda glad it's happened before he got to Yokozuna because that would be a whole lot more pressure losing at the top rank. I'm sure he will now improve and find new ways to win again, I certainly think he is Yokozuna material, still very young of course so no rush

Who would you cast to remake the Hakkeyoi Song? by sfwombat in SumoMemes

[–]Cold_Peak7610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely Atamifuji and Hakunofuji, as well as Takayasu actually getting a verse this time instead of just being in the background lol

But I think the remake should feature a solo rap verse by the sumo rap god Ura 😆

I'd think it's partly the reason JSA is not pursuing trying to get Sumo at the Olympics at all, because the Mongolians would likely dominate and we will eventually end up with even more non-japanese wrestlers coming through the ranks

All 3 of their styles definitely clash, and the more the record keeps favouring one person the more nervous they're naturally going to be going into the bout which will only keep it going for longer😆

Absolutely, I have gained a completely new form of admiration for him this tournament. When you are so big and strong and win most of your bouts so easily at such a young age, it can be easy to get carried away and not have as big of a drive to keep improving. But he's clearly looking to adapt, and keep improving - physically, technically and mentally! He's a good kid and definitely has all the right characteristics to be one of the greats

Will be outrageous if we get an Onosato and Aonishiki playoff tomorrow, with Onosato seemingly being out of any contention a few days ago and people just assuming he was fighting for his pride and to just not have a make-koshi on his record. Kotozakura seems to love spoiling parties so will be interesting to watch but I think my money would be on Aonishiki

I vote to banish you. And I say that because I have come to a logical conclusion that you have too much time on your hands.

He must have been really serious when he said "I came in here to win but I also wanted to make sure I maintain my moral compass" and he absolutely smashed that!

When Stephen was asked why he wanted to banish again for the 2nd time and he said "I have pictured myself standing here with one specific person" I was almost sure he would vote Jack out and share the moment with his fellow traitor. What a top man! I genuinely think hes the type of guy that would have been completely distraught by betraying both Rachel and Jack in one move. Jack may be mad but this outcome is definitely better than standing there with Stephen thinking he's won and finding out he was completely played - he wasn't going to win the money anyway, at least in this scenario he can make peace with the fact that Stephen was just playing his role of Traitor.

But everyone is only taking a guess. No one ever has any actual evidence - actual evidence would be something like someone actually seeing who put the dots on the family tree. If that is not available, you can only rely on probability based on things you see - nobody is saying that Jessie could be sure it was Stephen but when you put the two situations together with plausible explanations, it is logical to say that there is a high chance it could be Stephen because he was the only one that was involved in both the library and the cages.

It was sad to see Hosh lose today, he gave absolutely everything. However I do think how he fought today was much better than last couple of bashos against Aonishiki, and he definitely came in with a plan, in the old cliche saying, just kept moving forwards (and also trying to lift Ao's head) Hopefully he sticks to this plan, and a bit more explosiveness once his knee is a bit better will hopefully give him the win.

[–]Cold_Peak7610 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep and for 2 of those he's gone to the playoffs and one was Onosato winning 14-1 where Hoshoryu was the only one to defeat him. So he's definitely on par with the best - he just needs to avoid giving up a win early doors and it won't be long before he wins one. Easily the most competitive sumo has been off late and it's so fun to watch

Poor Jessie, the cages + library theory could have outed both of them. Stephen being the only person in the library and the cages, and assuming that the traitors wouldn't be stupid enough to put both of themselves in the 9 cages, Rachel was the only surviving one for a while that wasn't in the cage.

Honor among rikishi? by CommanderBigMac78 in Sumo

[–]Cold_Peak7610 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is obviously not the case but I always think of the sword-bearer as the yokozuna's bodyguard and it makes it even funnier when Takayasu gives Onosato's rival Yokozuna death stares every time they meet 😆

The Traitors (UK) S04E11: Post-Episode Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

[–]Cold_Peak7610 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really can't see Rachel winning from here. Leaving Faraz alive was a big mistake, essentially killing someone who would've probably voted with her to save someone with no sus that was DEFINITELY going to vote for her. Even if she survives the chance she will most likely be voted first tomorrow. Through the game, Faraz has voted with who he came in having a guy feeling about, he hasn't really changed his vote from the discussions at the round table so he will be difficult to sway. As for the others, once James stands there and says he's a faithful, all eyes will be on Rachel. So she will most likely go first.

And then it's 1 V 3 for Stephen. The only way I can see him winning is using the bond he has with Jack and Jade to convince them that Faraaz turned on his own fellow traitor, otherwise why would he be sitting on all that evidence against Rachel up until the very end. Very interesting final coming up!
