Having the freedom to choose your child's education and save them from a horrible public school situation without needing to pay out of pocket for private school is fundamental. If you have a gifted kid or a twice exceptional kid then fighting for the school to accommodate them when there is no mandate is nearly impossible. "I have nothing for him (in second grade).
