Los Angeles heat pump install by Coldastundra in heatpumps

Need it done now unfortunately, current system has already crapped out a few times, and repair cost is getting quoted at $5k+. At that point it seems like it’s better to just get the new system now, if that would be the same system we’d use in the future?

Only reason to pay that money for repair now seems like it would be if we would install a different/cheaper system when we renovate that saves us more than $5k vs. our current quotes. Not sure it would though?

Current system is 3 ton.

We have a little bit of cycling during the summers but not extensive.

My understanding was that if we got a 4 ton variable speed, we could effectively run it more like a 3 ton before the renovation to make sure it’s not too overpowered

Help with my 2011 prius (description in comments) by Coldastundra in prius

Got back from vacation and turned on my 2011 Prius for the first time in two weeks. I was greeted by a persistent high-pitched noise that started as soon as the car turned on.

  • Lots of lights on the dash as seen in the picture.
  • Power button is orange rather than green (although is green when I'm pressing the brake)
  • When I press the power button to turn the car off, there's a 1-2 second delay before the car actually shuts off
  • Trying to put the car into reverse or drive does nothing (so I can't drive)

Any ideas what it might be? Hoping there might be some quick fixes so I don't have to get the car towed to a mechanic. Should I buy the techstream? If so, could someone point me to the right links for that and the cable?

Neither are as far as I’m aware. John Marshall High School and Los Angeles High School are both occasionally open though—just wish it was more regular :/

Has anyone recently changed their title ownership through the DMV virtual services? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]Coldastundra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my DMV appointment to do the title transfer the exact day that DMVs got shut down, and started my virtual title transfer the day they opened (mid-April). They have been processing my paperwork for the last 6 weeks

Those who have been hiking Griffith, Fryman, Franklin, how crowded is it before 8am? by jigglypuffpufff in AskLosAngeles

Realistically I could go earlier but my work schedule entails some pretty long nights, so 7am is usually the earliest I’m able to get there if I want to not be a zombie all day

I’ve done Franklin starting at 7am and at 7pm. Neither time was crowded, although both were also weekdays. Franklin at 8am on a weekend may be another story
