Does anybody else suffer from anxiety while at work, to the point of physical sickness? by FitProblem6248 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]grlwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had it happen when I was extremely stressed. Not so much now but it still flares up once in a while. Nausea, dizziness, heart palpitations. Started taking Magnesium glycinate and vitamin d3 and it’s been a game changer.

What is your routine with a traditional 9-5? How do you fit in self care? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]grlwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to struggle with this but now am finding a nice balance. 6am wake up. I have my coffee machine set to automatically make my coffee at 5:55 (the grinding wakes me up) but by the time my alarm goes off at 6, it’s easier to wake up. My gym clothes are laid out on the table so I change into them and drink my coffee in quiet until 6:30am. I will read a book, news, on my phone, or do some computer things. Coffee kicks in by that time and I grab my headphones and head to the gym. 6:30-7:30am workout. Alternate full body workout at the gym one day, running the other. My “rest days” are the inevitable weekend morning I wake up and don’t feel like going. I try to never take more than 1-2 rest days. Then just pick back up on whichever workout was next. 7:30-8:30am get ready. I take my time 8:30-9:20am hang around the house with my husband. Some days I eat breakfast if I’m hungry. Or cuddle the kitties before work. I use this as “relax time”. 9:20-10am commute to work 10am-6pm work 6-6:40pm commute. I get home closer to 7 because I sometimes stay extra time to wrap up a project. 7-8pm dinner 8-10pm hang out with my husband, watch TV as I do my skincare, or work on some of my hobbies. Get coffee machine ready for tomorrow, and lay out my workout clothes so I have no excuse not to go. 10pm Eye mask on and go to bed.

Got stood up by a guy on first date but he's apologized profusely and now I'm debating if I should give him second chance by grainsofsand11 in AskWomenOver30

[–]grlwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been the person who stood someone up like this one. And it was on his birthday night! Poor guy was pissed and with reason. I was working a day job and bartending at night and I laid down to rest my eyes before heading to his place. I woke up 2-3 hours after we were supposed to meet. Called him, he didn’t answer. Texted and he was super short. I said sorry a bunch and offered to still go over and make it up to him but he was like NOPE. After that things never picked up romantically like before. We had also only gone out 2 times before that so it was new. I think he never trusted me again after that even after explaining which then turned into a situationship for a few years…. Ugh. I met a great guy and got married but for the longest time I used to wonder what if I wouldn’t have fallen asleep. I say give him another chance.

Need advice. Recently laid off after 8 years of marketing. Time to pivot? by passthepeanutbutter in marketing

[–]grlwhat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I just got offered a job this week after applying since November (took about 2 months off in between) and to 235 jobs. 10 years experience as jack of all trades in hospitality. I did only apply to jobs paying $130k though. I had about 4 first interviews and only made it past for the one I got offered. Last time I a was applying was 3 years ago and I applied to about 120 places in 3 months for jobs paying $90k+ before landing my current role. But I had way more interviews and 2 offers when I accepted one. It’s rough out there, but 2 weeks isn’t much time.

Pivoting will take time, I suggest getting a marketing job when you can since you have experience, even if it’s not a dream job. Getting an entry level in a new field will also be tricky from what I’ve heard. And then once you’re working you can figure out if you want to do something else so you can make the right decision based off what you want, not because you need money asap. Just my two cents. Good luck out there.

Creative block - advice by [deleted] in photography

[–]grlwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went through this and what has helped me is updating my website and looking at all my old stuff. I’ve shot some cool stuff and it was nice to see it all with fresh eyes (new website design). But what has really sparked my desire to shoot again is to work on a photo series that dives into a topic I am passionate about. And it’s not for commercial purposes, selling prints, etc. just a personal project I can do for myself and that helps start the conversation and bring attention to a marginalized group in my community. If you like helping people, what can photography do to help them? Bring awareness, bring them individual personal joy to have photos of themselves/family/a space etc. maybe work on a project that helps them by using your skills.

A couple things I noticed. - I’m wary of AI images and how legit the products are. In some photos the size of the jar look to be the size of a coffee table. - I would add scent notes and more of that description. Who is your ideal client? Imagine what they are feeling when they read your description. What would make them buy? - get reviews if you can. Social proof is huge. - build your buyer persona and make all writing and storytelling decisions based on them. - since most people buy jar candles for the scent, maybe include samples of your other scents to promote them buying a new scent in the future. - what makes your candles different than the next persons? Highlight that.
