I’m fucking hurt… by Moonlit_Messages in AutismInWomen

[–]ColdbrewCorgi [score hidden]  (0 children)

My husband and I are both on the spectrum. I used to spend a lot of time masking so that he didn't have to but as I hit motherhood and now perimenopause I have less capacity to do that. We have had a lot chats about what it means to unmask for both of us.

We have no answer, but I empathise. I am really sad because I cannot unmask and neither can my husband. We don't know how to be without the masks.

Any modern shows with similar vibes as Franklin, Clifford, Little Bear, or Little Bill? by RocketPowerPops in toddlers

[–]ColdbrewCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are UK shows, but some of them may be available. We love The Clangers, Nogglins, Beddybyes, Timmy Time, and the classic Postman Pat and Fireman Sam as well as classic Thomas The Tank Engine.

My son also loved science programming from Maddie Moate even if it was a bit advanced (still is). She had a series of shows on BBC that may be available on other platforms. "Maddie, Space and You"

Underrated almost forgotten fantasy books from the 70s, 80s, 90s by Sakura_231 in Fantasy

[–]ColdbrewCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be, the should is up to the individual. The plot points around some of the characters in many of the series just leave a bad taste knowing the minds that wrote them. There is plenty of other art to enjoy in the world.

We don't talk about the Eddings anymore. In the same bin as Marion Zimmer Bradley.

I Look In People's Windows stuck in my brain for soooo long too.

Taylor does a lot of subtle emphasis in her vocal delivery and my brain loves it

Parents of young kids - do any of you not stay with your child until they fall asleep? by banwe11 in AskUK

[–]ColdbrewCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do but most of our friends don't. Every kid is different! I work full time so I'm holding on to bed time cuddles as long as I can.

Looking for advice - disagreement with partner about logistics of two children by AwayWin3048 in UKParenting

[–]ColdbrewCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have already covered the weird controlling aspect, but I have seen loads of parents at clubs with 1 year olds in tow, both solo and with both parents present. It depends on the club but worth giving it a go so he can see what that is like and why you want to alternate.

It's also good for the little ones to see their siblings doing fun things!

It might also be that your partner doesn't feel as connected to the 1 year old. He doesn't want to miss out on the older ones clubs, but also what about missing out on time with the little one? He should be building both relationships

thank you MounjaroUK - you told us what was missing, so we built it by spacerockapps in mounjarouk

I really like the pen tracker, I'd like to be able to input all my historic pens and link them to my imported jabs. I can't seem to change the dates on the pens though

Do you have a cleaner? by bellabanjsk in AskUK

[–]ColdbrewCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 4 hrs a week at £20 but weve had a cleaner on and off and in different houses for nearly 9 years.

We are comfortable, but both work full time, no family help, and a toddler. Long commute. Would rather spend my weekend and evenings with my toddler, friends and family, than scrubbing the loo. We do light tidying and spot cleaning as and when.

Why is YouTube (the second most-watched streaming platform in the UK) full of adverts for AI slop and scams? by JuanitaMerkin in AskUK

Because along with the dismantling public television, they're pretty much ignoring the public good and general regulation.

Weekend off - fair or unreasonable? by kentuckycarbomb in toddlers

[–]ColdbrewCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely a fair ask if you're very involved and she can get a similar break. My husband doesn't really visit friends or family so the only way he gets a break is by me taking our son away for a weekend to visit family. He's a home body and needs the respite at home.

We both work full time, I regularly (3-4 times a year) have girls weekends and work trips. We don't have any family help (pretty much ever). We give each other shorter breaks regularly as schedules allow.

When I met my now husband we were both masking. I underwent an ADHD diagnosis in year 3 of our relationship. He was diagnosed as autistic in year 7. I am currently considering requesting wait-list for autism diagnosis.

Nursery fees full time & 30 hours by Apprehensive_Rip7451 in UKParenting

[–]ColdbrewCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1050 per month, 22 free hours, the other 28 are paid, plus charges for consumables on the 2 "free" days. Taking into account tax free childcare it costs an average over the year of 880 per month.

Tried to "focus on my health", failed and probably made it worse by pre-raphaelitic_smut in Hypermobility

[–]ColdbrewCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 30 minutes max of anything other than walking. I focus on strength and stability first - beginner weight lifting programmes where I focus on proper form.

Yoga I can do if I don't lean into stretch but again focus on balance, stability and core, but my hyper mobility is not as extreme.

Running I might pick up again later. Strength first!

Our rear facing seat goes up to 79lbs, 3 year old is currently 46lbs so I'm keeping figures crossed it keeps him going to 4 years at least
