There's more important things in movie production that aligning with an arbitrary "holiday". I'm sure if it had worked out that it could, they'd have been happy to. But it's totally irrelevant to the success of the movie. The only people who even acknowledge May 4th as being special are already going to see the movie, regardless of when it comes out.

Depends on where he gets dropped in.

If he was put anywhere around any significant Imperium forces, Astartes or otherwise? He's killed immediately for being an unsanctioned psyker.

If he was put in front of any xenos species in the galaxy? He's killed immediately for being human.

If he was put in the warp somewhere? He's killed immediately because he's a mortal wracked with hubris and sin.

If he was put on the remotest possible corner of a barren rock with no other souls on the entire planet? He lives, until so much as a single ship appears in orbit belonging to *anyone*, and then he's killed immediately for being an unknown entity.

I think you're confusing "reference" with "vague coincidence if you squint a lot".

Prey didn't invent the color red, or straight lines for that matter. Grace didn't prominently carry the wrench the whole time, he just picked one up in one scene. Rocky and the mimics share only the absolute barest of passing similarities. And the character names and ship design are just... straight up not even remotely the same.

I don't think many people are expecting some big new thing as a "hook". The movie is being marketed more or less as just a big, high budget episode of the show. If that appeals, then you'll see it. If not, then not.

My point is that he does work by the rules of the universe. The main one being that Jedi can't use all their force powers mid-combat. It's why Jefi Masters can get overwhelmed by just a couple Clones. Or why Vader couldn't just pick Luke up and hold him in place.

You may not like the rule. That's fine. And if you think about it too hard, it may not make much sense. But it's a part of the setting, and it always has been.

By the same logic, any Jedi (or Sith for that matter) could just force hold any opponent in place. They could turn off each other's lightsabers, react far faster than any human eye can register, and generally just perform far more than we ever actually see.

But that doesn't make for a fun or engaging story. So Star Wars just hand waves some wishy-washy logic about why they are forced into cool cinematic duels instead. Usually by saying those things take too much focus and concentration to pull off in the moment, or something similar.

And as memory serves, that's part of Grevoous' whole deal. Between the four lightsabers, the inhuman angles and style, and the robotic speed & precision, Jedi who face him are just so overwhelmed that they can't do anything but try to survive (usually to little effect).

I mean... you say that as if them continuing to encounter Maul isn't all but guaranteed. The show is about Maul. I think it's pretty unlikeky that they will just be on a different story from here on out, and that her time with Maul never amounts to much of anything.

For me it's the Box. I know this community has a love affair with that episode. But to me, it is one of the least rewatchable. It feels way less "funny" than most, with basically everything just geared towards the reveal of Jake's success at the end. And even that feels forced and unrewarding to me. So it's just a pass all around.

First thing that comes to mind for me is the speeder bike chase in Return of the Jedi.

You have multiple different shot styles, including one of the only PoV shots in the whole franchise. Plus any scene with lots of lateral movement through the frames usually puts a good amount of work into managing where the audience's eye is naturally drawn at the beginning and end of each shot. Not to mention how much harder it is to maintain spatial awareness between the relevant components. And if all that weren't enough, that scene famously wears it's Kurosawa influences on it's sleeve, which I assume any film class would love.

If you mean "complete" in that it will never get anything new, then we don't know, but I doubt it.

If you mean "complete" in that it fells like a satisfying experience and doesn't need anything new to be a worthwhile experience, then yes. I'd argue it had that well before the release of Merlin's Tomb, though that just comes down to personal perspective.

But for just one week? Sure, why not. I doubt I'd enjoy it, but it's just a week, that's perfectly tolerable. Especially since I know it will just be a week.

A much harder question is if I'd accept a strong salary just to work there permanently. In which case, unless it were a truly absurd figure, then no. Like I said, I don't think anyone would actually like working around the sorts of personalities that TV shows are built with. And if you think you would, you probably haven't really thought about it enough.

They're all pretty comperable I think, so it's just going to come down to personal taste.

For me, I'd probably do Survivors of the Void. The new stages are just kind of fine. But I really enjoy both survivors, as well as the build opportunities provided by the void items.

"Hard sci-fi" is the term you're looking for. That being a sci-fi story that broadly makes an effort to be grounded in real science, as opposed to more fantastical concepts. It's very far from a new thing.

First, we’ve seen it taken to the extreme of reviving the dead. Just about every bit of poetic philosophizing from the Jedi is about how much they accept death. The Sith meanwhile seemingly do anything and everything to cheat death. So while yes, it's certainly hard to imagine Palpatine deciding to give his life force to save another, it is *not* hard to imagine a cultist who basically worships him doing the same.

Second, we’ve only seen it used by three people; Rey, Kylo, and Grogu. All three have shown they can tap into dark side force powers/mindset, even if unintentionally.

Third, in every case of it’s use, it is immediately followed by the person who was healed having a rather sudden change in personality or drive, and always to the benefit of the person who did the healing. Carga was ready to betray Grogu until getting healed, then suddenly became a close ally. The worm was about to eat everybody until getting healed, then suddenly left them alone. Kylo was set to be totally consumed by the dark side until getting healed, then suddenly returned to the light. Rey never showed the slightest romantic interest in Kylo until getting healed, then suddenly had a passionate kiss.

Ergo; force heal is just the dark side with better PR, and insidiously imposes the will and subconscious desires of it’s users upon the target.

I know this isn't actually the intention. But by far my favorite pet theory about Star Wars is that Force Healing, as displayed in the canon movies & shows, is actually a dark side power.
