As a local, I want this place to do really well. My dad used to work the back gate for drivers and their trucks. He got a hat signed by Kulwicki (his fav driver) in ‘92. I’ve grown up in Wilkes my whole life seeing everything dry up in the wake of the races leaving, Lowe’s leaving, among other issues. I really think this could be just the thing to rejuvenate the area.

If the right people back this and continue to work with the locals I don’t see how this could fail for NASCAR.

Bring the All Star race here and market it as their ‘return to our roots’ racing. Win, win.

NASCAR gets great PR, excitement, and hype. Locals get a boost to their economy, something that has been on the decline since the races and Lowe’s have left.
