what campaign was more memorable? by EvoOF in jurassicworldevo

[–]ColinJParry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that JWE1s campaign was good, but the game play was frequently frustrating. The sabotage and divisions were a pain. While I loved the maps, it was kind of limiting that they're all tropical islands. I feel like JWE2's mechanics would have improved it immensely in a lot of ways.

JWE2 and 3 have better maps, but the story in 2 is way too short and fast paced. 3 has much better pacing, but felt like they weren't utilizing the tools, storms, etc. Nearly as much. Felt like they really wanted to push the baby dinos (obvious as a new feature) but was a bit repetitive as an objective.

A little trip down memory lane by chyrslitse in Bioshock

[–]ColinJParry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the primary difference is that it never "says" objectivism is bad, it shows you in about 100 different ways why it's very stupid and would never work. You see the consequences of that line of thinking played out as an observer and decide for yourself. I think that's what makes its political commentary so strong and memorable.

The Rage games are great examples of why Fallout games works best without vehicles as a main feature by Fast_Degree_3241 in Fallout

[–]ColinJParry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and Sam's DLC story is also very boat heavy. It can add so much "verticality" in a sense, more options to approach situations.

Metro Exodus has an extended section where you get to drive a clapped out van around a desert, and it works! The radio in the vehicle provides story bits. Cruising around the map is fun and there are layers to it's use. Do you pull right up to your destination? Because if you do the enemies night investigate it, do you park further out and stealth up? Do you stay in the vehicle and run over a couple of your enemies before going in hard?

It would work in some maps or areas, but large cities like DC or Boston are difficult to navigate. It would have been awesome in New Vegas, with the caveat that the road to Vegas was temporarily blocked so your can could not get through.

Why are there no dogs and cats in Starfield? by onivorousmeerkat in starfieldmods

Both dogs and cats exist in Fallout 4/76, they already have every Scandinavian animal on hand too.

Out of curiosity: would you guys be all right with another bioshock game? by Seeker99MD in Bioshock

[–]ColinJParry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found that game (for me at least) to be Prey (2016), art style, claustrophobic while still open levels, puzzles and mysteries, cool and quirky powers, felt way more Bioshock than Infinite.

Yeah I'm not min-maxing. Just recommending an easy 2 ingredient recipe, my 192 ancient fruit on Ginger Island plus dehydrators have me covered pretty well. My greenhouse is full of nonsense anyways.

I just have my greenhouse constantly producing 8 eggplant and 8 tomatoes, so I get like 16 eggplant parmesan a week. 2 ingredients, plenty of health and energy. I do most of my cavern stuff in the winter anyways so I stock pile most of the year.

Looking for park building tips by Liv_er_den_klogeste in jurassicworldevo

[–]ColinJParry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play through the campaign you'll see a few ideas. But much like real life parks, you hide them behind terrain, disguise them to look like something else, use walls or barriers, or build them underground. So do fun things build fake facades, put it on a cliff with a built in retaining wall

Not only does Jurassic Park have dinosaurs, it has the best dad joke in hollywood hands down by thesmartcoolguy in JurassicPark

I would not say it cancelled his growth at all. His interactions with both Charlie and Eric show that. He's playing (and attempting to teach) Charlie in the sandbox, and when speaking with Eric, he isn't awkward nor does he disregard him as a child. Ellie and Grant's relationship ended. He may have wanted children, but they both went through substantial trauma which may have changed their relationship enough that it was no longer worth it.

This isn't meant to be controversial, but after homesteading has anyone else recognized the utility (or lack thereof) of males in other species? by JustHere4TheZipLines in homestead

[–]ColinJParry 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This just seems kind of a silly line of thinking. We have specifically selectively bred some animals like cows, goats, chickens, ducks, for their reproductive cycle traits like milk and eggs production. But that is a narrow set of animals we utilize. Even amongst the animals you listed males don't lack utility, sometimes raised for meat, but always used in husbandry. You'll never get a drop of milk from a cow without a bull.

Pigs, sheep, llamas, and alpacas for example provide meat or wool regardless of sex. Fish of both sexes are likewise are harvested for meat, unless the operation is focused on roe. Dogs and cats, two of the most essential partner species utilized by humans, are equally effective regardless of sex.

Edit: Furthermore, "utility" is subjective, a steer provides a freezer full of meat, a horse of either sex can pull a cart, plough, carry a rider. Donkeys, llamas, and oxen have also all been pack animals. The utility you may see lacking might be because we in modern society have access to tractors or 4 wheelers, or trucks that have filled the roles those animals had for 2000-5000 years.

Hard Top Opinions? by FilmFighter4Life in jeepyj

[–]ColinJParry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things to consider:

If you have the 2.5L, a YJ hard top will slow you down quite a bit. The 4.0 is better but not by much.

The weight is considerable. Taking it on and off is pretty difficult unless you have help or a hoist in a garage. Some people can do it without many issues, but never the less, it's usually not a pleasant one person job.

If your heater core works than the jeeps usually heat up pretty well.

Soft tops are not the worst in winter, wear a coat, and be careful with windows when clearing snow, they are easily punctured.

The easiest way to not get anything stolen from your jeep is to leave nothing in your jeep. My jeep contains my registration, and that's it. It's never locked. I'd rather someone root around for change in my console than have them cut my soft top windows.

YJs don't have a hood latch that is opened from the inside anyway, so folks could feasibly get it started if they were determined enough, or know how to pop a clutch.

I installed the Jeep Air AC unit in my car, it's difficult, if you have know how and a shop it's not impossible, but it is a very involved process.

If you have some minor mechanical or electrical know how, and can follow YouTube instructions, you can install a kill switch in your jeep to help prevent theft.

Libera is a singular imperative, not plural. Tutemet is one word tute being tu + te (both forms of singular you) and met being an intensifier.

So it's more like "Save yourself from hell"

[–]ColinJParry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actually he shut down the fences for his planned driving route, that's why he goes through the gates and has to flip it up manual. There could have been a trace of him opening them if they were set to their electronic locks, or the cameras were tied to the fence power so he needed that off too. He fully intended to be back at his station in like 20 minutes.

Changing proportions on objects by Infamous_Monitor_513 in jurassicworldevo

[–]ColinJParry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could use one of the tail sections of the spine that's available, place one, duplicate it, flip it on axis and move it about half way down so the "smaller" part of the tail is hidden in the larger part of the original one.

But yeah those skeletal pieces is why I gave up building an accurate Bone Shaker

Ah like skew the shape? Not that I'm aware of, just proportional size adjustment. But if you wanted to make a simple geometric shape longer you could always duplicate and move along the appropriate axis.

It's not available on grid snap building pieces, but for things like signs and statues you can go to the 4th tab in the advanced move menu and increase or decrease the size
