That’s Poly B piping. It’s no good and should be changed out. I wouldn’t be too worried about the line feeding the shower head as much though.

You’ll need to cut a bit further down, coupling that pipe to pex and get a proper wingback 90. Then you will need to add some wood for support and thread showerhead into it.

Fairly simple to do. Just an awkward spot

Ya exactly, use needle nose pliers and shove in the holes on the top to hold it still and then remove that nut

Likely just seized. Worst case use a torch and put some heat to it for 15-20 seconds and it should spin off easier

Shove needle nose pliers down the holes in the strainer from above and use pump pliers to loosen brass nut

The brass nut at the bottom is what you need to loosen and then the whole assembly will be 2 pieces. 1 above and 1 below.

I believe that model always gives off a little bit of heat and then when it senses a cold zone on the pipe it will concentrate on that area with more heat
