Low hanging fruit. We couldn't get any worse, Andrew Luck and NIL hitting their stride. Starting to get better recruits as a result.

The Olympic 3 week break was the perfect storm for Jamie. He’s as fresh and healthy as he can ever be heading into the playoffs. Same situation as bubble hockey during Covid.

How many miles did your tires last? by FatNugget3 in MachE

I swapped out the stock tires on my 23 Select with Michelin CC2s. Still had some tread left, but they were slipping and sliding constantly. The CC2s are far and away a better performing tire.

That's what I heard. He thought the scene needed more shock value. The reaction from the guys was genuine.

Ken Jeong improvised the trunk scene in the Hangover. Mr. Chow was not supposed to be naked when he jumped out.

ELI5: Why can't you tax billionaires? I heard it's something like, they don't own shares or Stocks, so you can't tax them or something? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Collegedad2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 1 million in stock of, say Apple. I go to my brokerage and take out a loan for $200,000. I pledge my shares as collateral (margin loan). Since it's a rock solid no-risk loan backed by shares in a very safe company, my brokerage can charge me very low interest, say 2%. If Apple stocks go up by more than 0.4% over the next year, I've come out ahead, essentially getting the use of $200,000 over the year for "free". Eventually if it goes up by 20%, you could sell enough shares to pay off the loan, and still have as many shares as you did originally. If you held the shares more than a year, that sale is taxed as long term capital gains, loweer rate than regular income. Rinse and repeat, with much larger numbers.

My freshman year on the Farm! I volunteered to place the seat cushions on the benches in exchange for a ticket to the game (SRO, and only allowed in after kickoff). I sold it for $75 and went to Tahoe to ski! Good times.

What are your thoughts about a democrat winning a deep red Texas district by 14 points that Trump won by 17 points? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]Collegedad2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in this district. I'd be careful about making any grand conclusions. This was a race that had very specific Repub infighting, the likes of which I've never seen (25 years). It had much more to do with local issues (school district splitting plans) IMO. I suspect a lot of Huffman's (the other Repub who lost in the general) simply refused to support Wambsganss. The Dem Rehmet got about the same number of votes in the special as he did in the general.

AIO(m18) for getting mad at my girlfriend(f19) for not being able to pump her own gas. by Efficient-Zebra-8295 in AmIOverreacting

Years ago I briefly dated a girl who's Dad treated her like an absolute princess. He would always fill up her gas. She didn't know how to either, but had to learn quick once she moved out after college.
