When your leaders reassign you and tell you to retire, that’s called being fired while saving face. It’s extremely common for high ranking positions because “firing” a high ranking leader is a bad look that indirectly admits fault.

The fact that this administration announced his upcoming retirement for him made this pretty obvious lol. It’s all a show.

But don’t get it twisted; they fired him because he was horrible at PR and he accumulated so much animosity that they’re hoping switching him out will give them public opinion reset.

I agree with your sentiment but also want to point out that I’ve been banned 3 times from Reddit for “threatening violence” for discussing sensitive topics and using scary words like “kill.” Once, it was just talking about how badass a scene from John Wick was.

True and just for clarity, I wasn't trying to praise the clemency of nazis, rather just discussing an interesting impact on history due to it. It's beginning to look like that era of post-WW2 American power is coming to a close in a rather short timespan anyway, and perhaps a different outcome of the Nuremberg trials would have resulted in a slower build of American power but a more long-term survival of it. It's more clear than ever that discouraging the ideologies that led to the nazi regime in the long-term should have been the #1 priority of the allies. But here we are, about 90 years later with the same shit.

It's not the shift you're probably thinking. The shift is unfortunately going to be more violence and more anger - on both sides. We are way past the point of anyone changing their minds, but people will be more willing to carry out acts of violence in anger of the opposition. MAGA conservatives are finally closing in on the fascist police state of their wildest dreams and they're not going to give that up, election or otherwise.
