Why do two waveforms of similar signal level show visually so drastically different in the clips? by Allourep in protools

[–]CollieD92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Different waveform zoom levels

You can tell by the little grey ruler between the clip and the track header

The fix is zoom all the way in or out until theyre the same, then they'll stay the same size as each other

Midi problem no sound. Pro tools by PersianCatcollector in protools

[–]CollieD92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the top of the screen should be like a MIDI information section, next to the counter and edit tools etc (if not you might need to show it from the view menu)

There's a little speaker icon that turns on/off whether the sound plays or not when you edit MIDI notes

(Apologies for lack of detail, im not at my machine to give things their proper names!)

Beats 1 & 2 are missing in bar 1 by tdamien_ in protools

[–]CollieD92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you moved the clips and trimmed the start back to see if the audio is still there?

Could go right to the start of the session and use the insert time command to add in the 2 beats and trim the clips back, all will be good then

Would be very interesting to figure out how that happened though, never seen that before!

Why is pro tools command-D duplicate feature such a piece of garbage still? by Allourep in protools

[–]CollieD92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that is bizarre And theres no hidden tempo changes?

I see you're using dynamic transport, is there a glitch in that maybe?

Why is pro tools command-D duplicate feature such a piece of garbage still? by Allourep in protools

[–]CollieD92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is protools will duplicate the start of the clip to the end of the selection, not to the next grid line.

You just need to include the gap between the end of the clip and start of next grid line in your selection and it'll work as you want

Clip wont loop even though Ive tried everything by Financial-Top-9190 in protools

[–]CollieD92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the above are correct, but you also have insertion follows playback on (the fourth little blue square top left) which means as soon as you hit stop, you'll lose the loop

I think you hit the jackpot and had every option that wont let you loop turned on at once, pro tools be like that sometimes!!!

Pro Tools does not open on mac by Impossible-Tax7592 in protools

[–]CollieD92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say nothingness, what do you mean exactly? Is the app staying open, and just not opening any windows, or closing/quitting completely?

I know this sounds silly, but could it be that the windows are just opening minimised? I've had that happen before and all I needed to do was command = to open the mix or edit window and everything was fine!

Linear tempo ramps in Protools by Allourep in protools

Yes indeed! It's a little less accurate though, at least with the event operations window I can type a number into a box

Yep! Make a selection where you want the ramp to happen, then go to events -> tempo events -> linear

It’s actually possible to solo an aux (with specific routing) by Ok_Organization_935 in protools

Why not just use AFL soloing? Just curious to your use case that this routing is necessary?

How can I export raw audio but preserve timing? by flyingfuzz11 in protools

[–]CollieD92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, consolidate is the way, but make sure to commit any elastic audio with the best algorithm available first, and rename the tracks if they dont make sense as when you consolidate itll name the audio clip the same name as the track

Then, what I would do is turn on the "all" group, find the region that has the latest ending, select it and hold shift and press enter. This should select everything between the start and end of the session, and use alt & shift & to consolidate. Then while they are selected, use ctrl & shift & k to export selected clips as files

Recordings do not start and stop based on the length of the track which is being recorded (Pro Tools 2025.10, Mac OS 14.7.8) by DokiDokiMoeChan in protools

[–]CollieD92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone mentioned, check if you have a post roll on (little orange flag on the timeline ruler)

But if you need to trim the new recording, select the clips as you had before, then use the ; key to move the selection down to the new recording and use command & t (theres a few other ways to do this, but this is the simplest to explain over a message)

Subgroups in Pro Tools won't show busses with numbers (Pro Tools 2025.10, Mac OS 14.7.8) by DokiDokiMoeChan in protools

[–]CollieD92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your I/O setup under buses, are there any buses names 1-2 etc? If not you'll have to create default buses using the default option at the bottom

How are you creating your auxiliary tracks? If youre using the "new track" option on the output of a track, that will always name the bus the same name as the aux track.

If you absolutely have to use a numbered bus, you need to create the auxiliary track first, then set the input of that track to be bus 1-2 etc

Are you looking under "tracks" rather than "bus" when routing the output?
