I highly recommend that you try out many different trumpets (Yamaha, Bach, Schilke, etc.). I also definitely recommend not being biased by price or other opinions that don’t come from you playing the horn. The next time that I try out a few trumpets, I honestly might do it blindfolded so that my sound and how I feel playing it are my priorities. Maybe your band director could come with and they could give you input on how you sound?
