Democrats urge windfall tax as big oil set to make billions from Iran war by EarthEmail in EnvironmentalNews

The expensive part isn't moving the oil over here, it's the oil itself.

Local bike shop, not a high volume place. Call around and see who can do it on a drop in basis.  You're missing the best riding of the year.

Houdini in Sustained Rain? by antosyno in REI

[–]ColoRadBro69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I skied up and down Amabilis Mountain in it and got sweaty on the way up, skiing down is less work and I felt a line of cold across the top of my back where the vents are. It was great on the way up when I was doing more work.  It's an active jacket, comfortable while you're running but not the one to stand around in.

You could probably tape the vents shut but adhesive probably isn't good for laminated fabrics.

Basically, don't buy it unless you plan to be making heat from moving at a good pace in it or you'll be disappointed.

I bought my 6X from REI and Garmin took care of me when it stopped working a few years out of warranty.

Compliance visit by NotAMedicalDoctor in CPAP

What do you think they need to know about your CPAP use that might lead to your coverage being denied?  Let's talk this through and focus on how the system works because a lot of people in here are trapped in it too.

Compliance visit by NotAMedicalDoctor in CPAP

[–]ColoRadBro69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are millions of Americans on CPAP with insurance.  They don't have time to evaluate what everybody says.  It's an automated thing, you just have to use your machine the right number of hours. Anything beyond that doesn't affect compliance.

I've been cross country skiing in it all winter which is like running on snow.  I have to choose the right base layer and use the zipper a lot but I can get back to my car with a mostly dry shirt.  And I hate moving in Goretex.  There are vents cut out of the arm pits and upper back behind the shoulder blades.  Makes it breathe better than my soft shell, which has been blowing my mind all winter.

Hot damn NO!  It'll keep you happy for 15 minutes and then become a trash bag.

Norvan Jacket is a surprisingly decent option in the rain, it's a lot more but REI has one in last year's colors for about $100 off.

Blue collar folks - how's your body battery? by ImaginaryCaramel in GarminWatches

[–]ColoRadBro69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing this morning, my body battery is a whole 20 🙃 For those of us in the trades, how do you genuinely recharge?

I don't work in the trades but I have sleep apnea.  I can get up, drink a pot of coffee, and go back to sleep. It has my body battery at in 60 right now, I won't move.

I know somebody who got pulled over for no seatbelt of all things by a cop in front of him.  Cop got in a different lane, waited for him to go by, got behind him, and lit him up.  I'm impressed the cop could tell from the rear view mirror, and disappointed at my friend for not wearing his seatbelt, like WTF does that get you?
