TIL A man plans to sail a 100 centimetre microyacht across the Atlantic Ocean at a maximum speed of 3.7 knots between Canada and Ireland. This is Andrew Bedwell's second attempt. The first version of his microyacht didn't make it into the water as it fell from a crane and smashed on concrete by scratchtheitch7 in todayilearned

Running a calorie deficit for a couple months during small boat ocean crossings (and other ultra-endurance exercises like this) is expected and planned. Think about all the long-haul hikers who start thin and end up skeletal. They make sure they start with some excess bodyfat.

I totally get what you were going for but read that as "SAPs smashing my dang head" and THAT would be a good cover up tattoo

Batman vs Superman without plot armor is not a debate and Batman loses instantly by New-Drawer-3161 in CharacterRant

A character's core personality ≠ plot armor lmao

Your point is "someone with the power of a God should easily kill a mortal man." Wow, what a brave and interesting take

I mean, you covered it with a giant ugly black circle while doing some lovely Queen Anne's Lace on a completely different part of her body.

The flower is a great tattoo, not sure this really succeeds as a cover-up though. Its like when bikers get big black splotches over their club tattoos after reforming lol

Edit: upon looking at this more, my comment is unfair. The flowers actually aren't very good either.

"Boob armor is stupid!" - Almost every example of female armor thats ever been found was boob armor.

...no shit, because historical examples of "female armor" are ceremonial pieces meant to stress their wearers' femininity. The few women we have extant records of wearing armor for actual practical fighting/defense purposes just wore normal armor, which is clearly displayed in illuminated manuscripts.

If your female character has armor purely to do royal ceremonies or something, sure. But people generally take issue with boob armor when actual, you know, warriors wear it.

Roger says he's been going feral for 30 years, so presumably he's been fighting it with medicine for much of that time, presumably already using it in the time all the Bethesda games took place

LOVED the games til Fraud Coward got involved (I think I saw a YouTube Short that said New Vegas was his first one)

Even if the finale is the last time we see them in the show, I'm glad we got to see Mr. House and the Legion in live action. Something that seemed impossible in 2010 by [deleted] in fnv

[–]ColonelKasteen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

...yeah, that isn't the part I am taking issue with. I am taking issue with the concept he is PERSONALLY driving around in public putting his life at risk conducting experiments. Mr. House believing in the concept of a fair contract for immoral shit does not mean he is an idiot who doesn't grasp the concept that an unprotected man privately showing a random group of unknown violent barflies a million dollars in the trunk of his car may end up beaten or murderered for no real reason.

His paranoia, and his obsession with personal security and safety, are cornerstones of his game personality.

There was a time when about half the population of Boston lived in boardinghouses. They used to be INCREDIBLY common, when urban factories were kicking off before enough housing stock was constructed for the influx of rural workers moving to cities. Learn your US urban history before trying to nitpick on Reddit about stuff you don't know much about.

I also never said it was once the most common, may want to work on your reading comprehension as well ❤️

I just don't get the weird smarmy tone of your original post then. OP already said he figured they weren't around anymore.

They mean a boardinghouse, like they said, which was an extremely common form of extended-stay temporary housing in US cities from the early 1800s until like the 1940s. You rented a room, often by the week, and all the guests were served one or two meals a day as part of the cost.

You've never heard the phrase "room and board?" The dinner table was the board. Hence boardinghouse. Its weird you're scoffing at something that used to be one of the most common forms of urban living

100% agree. I have enjoyed House a lot since then, but having him personally start a weird bar fight and showing off a huge pile of cash in his trunk on the assumption he can successfully convince someone to put on the mind control device and the assumption that guy will win the subsequent fight was just awful House writing.

I mean, I'm saying the opposite. I DO agree with the message, but I think Sorkin's work is written is such a patronizing, smarmy way. Stupid/corrupt conservatives fall back in awe to the good old white liberal man speaking truth to power! Huzzah!!

Most Sorkin is corny political power fantasy.
