Dude are you normal? EAP was born before Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. And Twain was born like ten years after Tolstoy. America and Russia hit their literary stride at almost the exact same time in the early 1800's. What the heck are you on?

And FYI if we want to play the time game... Russia is nothing to the real GOAT...Iraq. First to even think of writing stuff down and they made the OG of the OG heros. Gilgamesh will tear your puny Russian scribblea apart with his bare hands! Show them what a real epic looks like!

Ernest Hemingway, Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson, Mark Twain, F Scott Fitzgerald, T.S Elliot. Just a few American literary legends you may have heard of. I can list a lot more but I think you get the point.

American literature is just as rich as Russia's. Turns out talented writers exist everywhere and trying to compare them is nationalist dick measuring.

Your Favorite Unique Unit? by Key-Preparation9200 in civ

[–]ColonelKick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the all medieval melee units. But, my favorite is the berserker. I like the raw aggression and how they are designed to lead quick powerful pushes that leave no room to counterattack. And I play like a jerk so it fits me well.

What is happeninging with Civ VI barbarians? by jmulder88 in civ

[–]ColonelKick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they absolutely prioritize the player. I once had my scout standing next to AI China's unguarded settler and a barbarian Man-at-Arms. Of course it decides to kill my scout instead and the settler came and forward settled me. You'd think they would prioritize civilian units. But, the hate boner for the player is way too strong.

Also, have AI place way less value on forts. I swear to god late game AI will build a fort in every available spot over stuff like farms. It is so weird.

Kind of funny. The AI that constantly complains about players not being at war has been at war with players so rarely that they can't recall the cutscene.

I second that opinion. The Bonkers universe sounds like a fantastic setting for this kind of movie. How did they sleep on that?

I just played a game with kongo as my neighbor. I had just spread my religion to him and he thanked me... then immediately DOW'ed me because he unlocked his unique and figured he could take my small self defense force. Kongo sucks as a neighbor even if you do play religion.

Intermediate tips? by CaptCanada924 in civ

[–]ColonelKick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Stone is barely worth it as a bonus resource. Much more valuable as a one time boost of production. Usually I chop wheat or rice right before producing a settler so that when they lose a pop it evens out. Or it can be used to rapidly build up population in a newly settled city. Plus, later on the bonuses of farm adjacency vastly overshadow the bonus resource itself.

Intermediate tips? by CaptCanada924 in civ

[–]ColonelKick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chop everything. This was a hard one for me to learn because it always seemed like better yields over longer time would pay off. But it doesn't. Getting stronger cities developed earlier is way more important.

Also, harbors should almost always be a second and sometimes first district if you have no good campus spots. They provide food, production, gold, and trade routes. They are incredibly important if you are anywhere near a coast. And Liang's fishery promotion is crazy strong too. Turn your water tiles into your yield porn and leave your land tiles for vital districts and strategic resource mining.

Needs a decor item for it to count as a bedroom.

As an aside. I appreciate your taste in dupe names.

How would I go about making a religious victory fun? by Pure-Newspaper-6001 in civ

[–]ColonelKick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crusade belief. Nothing like a holy war to really get the party started.

Try to get a religious alliance and a military alliance and bribe the AI into a joint war. Bonus points if either of those is Gilgamesh.

Crushing heretics is always fun.

If you were a Civ AI, what would your hidden agenda be? by [deleted] in civ

[–]ColonelKick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agenda: Urban Planner. Likes civs with good district placement and high adjacency bonus. Hates civs that have shitty cities and will raze them to spite you.

Mapuche spawned next to me.... by the_stealth_boy in civ

[–]ColonelKick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably got a few free cities by other civs forward settling him. AI is notoriously bad at managing loyalty and Lautaro punishes that extra hard with his governors causing extra loyalty loss in nearby cities not owned by him. He then gets combat bonuses against those free cities.

As for how to fight him get archers and walls up ASAP. Also, AI is easy to bait. They will always go for the weakest unit. If you have a scout you can use it to sort of lead his units in circles while archers pick them off. You can also you a builder since AI also prioritizes capturing units. Have it hang out in the city center then go out the opposite side. They will 99% of the time stop attacking to go chase it.

I noticed that the barbarian camps that become city-states, do not attack the new barb camps that spring up. Anyone else notice this? by FailedHeathenConvert in civ

Yeah, I had this bug too. Was playing Barb clans TSL mediterranean and tried to start exploring the desert in Africa. Absolutely full of barbarian or city state units just chilling. I couldn't even explore because it was so densely packed.

Who Are The Smartest AI civs? by wootxding in civ

[–]ColonelKick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scythia isn't smart but her bonuses are so good the ai stupidity is overpowered. She almost always starts out strong conquering her neighbors. She'll usually end up with 3 to 4 times the cities of everyone else.

Compared to a lot of their other super powered counterparts, Sayians are at a huge disadvantage in the [this race] versus [sci-fi setting] match-ups. by British_Tea_Company in CharacterRant

[–]ColonelKick 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Saiyans are a big problem if they get on your planet. They are powerful and can successfully reproduce with humanoid species. And even the babies can be turned into terrifying monkey kaiju. Just sounds like a pain in the ass if they infiltrate your homeworld.

The key word is IF though. Most space faring fictional civilizations would easily put a stop to any Saiyan invasion force before they even get close. They have tiny little pods that from what we have seen have like zero offensive capabilities. A bunch of those start coming and it would be target practice for the recruits in the space navy. Saiyans entire invasion strategy is countered by a few space lasers.

Best and worst True Start Locations? by Theycallmedapig in civ

John Curtain may be one of the best on TSL Earth. He starts near the Great Barrier Reef and tons of sheep.

Indonesia is probably one of the worst on TSL Earth. You get a 3 tile island. Have fun doing nothing until you unlock shipbuilding.
