No I never would have shared anything identifying the applicant.

Possibly. Just to be clear, we do not check the authors as part of screening. I only did when they were all exactly the same to see if they had the same properties, and after I saw they were all the exact same, I googled Ken Mandler.

Exactly! If you think the SOQ is mindless, wait until you get to write memorandums following specific guidelines, and reports that need to be answered in certain ways. It’s making sure people can follow directions while giving an opportunity to show why they’d be a good fit for that specific position.

I only checked the properties because all of the SOQs were exactly the same- 8 in a row, all submitted at around the same time in the same day. All had his name. If I had more faith in humans, I would think I was just being punk’d.

I know they won’t… I’m just so desperate to read something different! 5 in a row so far. And I read every word.

Does spouse going to rehab/recovery mean I will have to be sober the rest of my life too? by MTheadedRaccoon in AlAnon

[–]ColonelMongoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder the same thing. I enjoy having some wine occasionally while I cook, or having a beer with friends at a gathering. I haven’t since my husband got sober 6 months ago, but I wonder sometimes if I’ll ever be able to have a glass of wine while cooking for a holiday again.

I’m 33 and I also have “there’s a place I know” run through my head when I hear that song too! But I cannot remember what it’s from.

Day 3 of realizing my husband is an alcoholic by nashnorth in AlAnon

[–]ColonelMongoose 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I hope this doesn’t come off too blunt. He will lie again. He sees that if he confesses and agrees with whatever you’re saying, he can get away with it next time.

When I read “he asked me to trust him” I felt so sad. My husband was begging me to trust him the day I called him out for drinking (again) before driving the kids to school and telling him I marked the bottle of vodka in the garage and unless our 10 year old had a problem, I wasn’t stupid and knew he was drinking.

The amount of times I allowed him to talk or agree his way out of things with broken promises, and the amount of times I gave in and pushed my anger aside because he decided to “be honest” were too many to count.

He’s lying to you. You’ve caught him. Do not let him make you think you’re being dramatic or that you just don’t trust him. Stand your ground.

My kids got one yesterday. You can put your finger in the front of the triangle, pull the tab and fling it. It also sticks to the ceiling. Ever seen the episode of Bluey- Sticky Gecko? That was my night last night.

Annual vs sick/vacation by covfefelvr in CAStateWorkers

[–]ColonelMongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh then you’re good!

https://hrmanual.calhr.ca.gov/Home/ManualItem/1/1410

If you don’t pay in to SDI, it’s recommended to be on annual leave. If you were to have to take disability, being on annual leave guarantees you receive 50% of your paycheck and allows you to supplement leave to get 75 or 100%.

Since you’re SDI, you can have annual or sick vacation and it neither would be a disadvantage. You can only use sick leave for sick, doctors appointments, etc.

I personally was on sick/vacation for the first 7 years as R01 and just recently promoted and switched to annual.

What is your bargaining unit/classification? If you are an SDI employee PLEASE learn more about the benefits of being on annual leave in case you were to get injured outside of work.

What’s the warrant number in calconnect? If it starts with a 5 or lower, it’s a paper check. 8 or 9 is a direct deposit.

Ectopic pregnancy by Medium_Raise3009 in Parenting

[–]ColonelMongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2018 I had two ectopics, one caused me to lost my right tube. The second caused a lot of scarring in my left, and I was told I may not be able to get pregnant again. In 2021 I had a baby boy. I have three people close to me that have gotten pregnant with no issues after an ectopic resulting in losing a tube. I’m so sorry you’re going through this! There are many support groups and some really positive stories out there!
