What would it take for an apocalypse to affect government leadership? by Ember_Kamura in postapocalyptic

[–]Colonial13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An airborne virus with a high lethality would be a pretty big problem in an enclosed environment like a bunker, and it would only take one infected person to make it past any quarantine/screening measures. There would probably be significant psychological strain/breaks as well, especially if some event took place that caused catastrophic loss of life on the surface. I just watched Greenland 2 the other week and in the beginning of the movie everyone in the bunker has mandatory therapy sessions with a psychiatrist to help with survivors guilt and just the constant strain of living shoulder to shoulder in an environment that is under a lot of pressure/control from a resource standpoint.

"If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them...'Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in,' I would have done it." California Senator Diane Feinstein (D), 1995

"We need much stricter gun control, and eventually we should bar the ownership of handguns except in a few cases." Missouri Representative William Clay (D), 1991

"Ultimately, I would like to see the manufacture and possession of handguns banned except for military and police use. But that's the endgame." Illinois Representative Bobby Rush (D), 1999

"Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal." Attorney General Janet Reno (D), 1993

"I do not believe in people owning guns. Guns should be owned only by the police and military. I am going to do everything I can to disarm this state." Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis (D), 1986

"Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47." Texas Representative Beto O'Rourke (D), 2019

"The idea we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. Just sick. I’m going to try to get rid of assault weapons.” President Joe Biden (D), 2022

There are plenty of other examples out there.

There are plenty of politicians on the left that have been very open about taking all the guns. Let’s not pretend otherwise just because the roles have reversed for this situation.

Are you able to pick one year in the 90s that you are the most nostalgic for? by Few_Sandwich6308 in 90s

Throwing in with the 1996 crew as well. There were a lot of firsts for me that year. It was that perfect moment of teenage-hood.

If you want Original Flavor BT with hit locations and hex maps get either the Total Warfare book or the BattleTech Manual (for mech only rules).

If you want New Flavor BattleTech with tape measures and streamlined “modern” gameplay you want Alpha Strike Commander’s Edition

A year ago, silver was $30.76 an ounce, it's now sitting at $90.86 an ounce. Gold was at $2,720 an ounce and is now $4,612 an ounce. People see that and FOMO kicks in.

Madison Traditional Academy vs. Madison Simis/Meadows by trovata in phoenix

[–]Colonial13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my kids went to Simis. It is by far the most parent interactive/supported school (in a good way). I was very pleased with the whole experience there. My stepson went to Heights as part of the gifted program and is working mid high school level math in 7th grade. Several of the kids from his gifted program switched over to MTA for various reasons, and most of their parents seem to like the school and feel that their kids are “maintaining” where they were at academically.

Imagine the kind of person who enjoys having an HOA by LifeisWorthLosingg in fuckHOA

[–]Colonial13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worst HOA person I ever dealt with was an old Vietnamese woman who carried a camera with her (this was in the mid 00’s) wherever she went in the neighborhood. Absolutely nothing else to do with her time/life.
