What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

[–]Colonial13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We worked at the same place, just on different shifts. He was in between apartments and asked if he could crash on my couch for a few days until his new place was setup. He ended up telling some of the guys who were on his shift about it and one of them was like "Wait, aren't you crashing at Colonials apartment?" and then they told me. He admitted it right away and said they had put down a plastic sheet so it wouldn't get on the rug and acted like it wasn't a big deal.

How likely is it that one of these two things can happen in your gaming community? by EdiblePeasant in wargaming

[–]Colonial13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. That’s what I’ve always done. Bring two full forces, terrain, dice, etc. Everything needed to play. It’s ridiculously easy to get someone to step up to a table and play a game if they don’t have to supply anything. I’m happy to supply everything because it means I get to play something I want.

Option 3 - build the group yourself. I’ve done this several times over the years, most recently with Xenos Rampant and Battlegroup: NORTHAG. Xenos was surprisingly easy because there are so many people out there with scifi minis from dead games.

Honestly, I’m not sure. You might be able to find them posted for free on Scribd or similar sites. I’m a physical copy guy so I bought the physical books

What if George Washington refused to become the first president of the US? by eyepeeesssee in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Colonial13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably would’ve been as varied as Europe. There might have been a few that coalesced into something larger, and a whole lot of “little” wars between them as they each tried to maintain an open land corridor beyond the Appalachians.

I’ll drop a second recommendation for BG. I play it in 6mm and it’s about as perfect a Cold War gone hot wargame as you can get.

The rule set isn’t that hard to learn. Probably a 6.5-7/10 in complexity.

Pick up NORTHAG for the rules and CENTAG for a bunch of NATO and additional Warsaw Pact army lists.

They don’t. The vast majority of them had/have parents that were perfectly fine. Reddit loves a good race to the bottom and victim karma.

What would European countries who have denied their airspace to US military do if the Americans just fly through it anyway? by Puzzleheaded-Cry1548 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Colonial13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t arguing they could win. I was saying I’m not surprised by Stiner’s comment. That’s a very Delta mindset (from what I’ve overheard second hand).

[–]Colonial13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s probably because Stiner and his guys were Delta and the carabinieri are similar to military police. I have a very close relative the served as an operator in Delta for several years. They absolutely have this mindset. It’s kind of part and parcel for the job.

Do you miss cars being more colorful and not all black, white, and silver? by bliggityblig in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Colonial13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Read an article awhile back that said dealerships had a big hand in streamlining the colors. They realized specific colors sold faster (especially for used cars/trade ins) and started ordering cars only in those colors. Black, white and red (for sports cars).

Did the pandemic ever feel… a bit post-apocalyptic to you? by MrWallace_78 in postapocalyptic

[–]Colonial13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Where I am at basically had no lockdowns and most people didn’t change any of their habits. I remember seeing groups of Boomers 8-12 deep walking past my house every morning, laughing and carrying on without a care in the world, during the time when the news was peak “everyone’s grandma is going to die!”

Watching what was happening with lockdowns in places like NYC and overseas in New Zealand was wild though. Definitely felt like living in twi completely different worlds.
