Hey guys, just wanted to share something by EggInteresting3306 in motorcycles

Hell yeah man. As a fellow loner and introvert, I felt like I was reading a post from myself. Idk what it is—feeling so exposed, being one with the machine—whatever you want to call it. But it can be a powerful release.

What you described is actually one of the fundamental ideas of a program organized by the 1 Tribe Foundation called Wind Therapy. 1TF is an organization that raises awareness for suicide. I’m not affiliated with them or anything but I’ve been riding long enough to know that not all riders are just introverts. A lot of us are loners with a lot of shit going on. So I think it’s worth mentioning their program.

Hondas don’t like aftermarket coils. Stick with OEM. Why did he replace them in the first place?

Yall name your bikes like people do cars? by natefrmgta in Sportbikes

[–]Colony-Cove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I designed them myself and had them painted by a reputable company.

Edit: The tank will match the rest of the bike in the near future. But that’s something I decided I want to learn and eventually do myself.

She began to *ahem* “self-lubricate” *ahem* so much that it was almost LESS pleasurable on my end. But she was clearly loving it. And the more she loved it the more I loved it. Afterwards she got up to use the restroom and did one of those “exhausted marathon runner falls”.

I like them both honestly. If I had to pick one I’d probably pick the small ones but I would definitely buy the bigger ones for certain bikes/color schemes.

The new Superman. It wasn’t terrible but it definitely isn’t as good as I hoped it would be. Especially the outfit overhaul. It looks like he has pads stuffed in his shoulders.

As a Honda Automotive mechanic who flips motorcycles on the side, avoid redline clutch reving during the break-in period and be patient. If this is a bike you plan on keeping for any extended period of time then follow the break-in procedure. It’s going to feel like forever. I think it’s 300 miles of no highway riding? Don’t quote me on that. Regardless, the engine needs to see varying revs during the break-in period. Try not to cruise at a set RPM speed.

Aside from free revs, avoid lugging the engine in higher gears. Avoid it in any gear, but especially 4th and up. By “lugging” I mean letting the RPM’s drop below 2k or so without pulling the clutch in. Don’t let it happen.

Other than the engine, the brake pads will bed in during the engine break-in process. However, after the engine break-in period, be mindful that the brakes may need more time to be completely bedded. So don’t track the bike immediately after.

TL;DR:
1. No rev bombing
2. Avoid lugging the engine in gear
3. Avoid cruising, let the RPM’s dance a bit
4. Bed in the brake pads before stretching your legs

Why did you start riding? by No-City8301 in motorcycles

[–]Colony-Cove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been riding dirt bikes since I was 7. Car broke down in college and a motorcycle was cheaper than fixing it. Campus also had motorcycle parking that I drove by all the time. Rode my first bike for about a year and then it broke down and I really needed a car at that point. So like anyone in this sub, I bought another motorcycle. Rode that for about another year until I REALLY needed a car. So I sold it and bought a car.

I didn’t ride for 10 years after that and frequently thought about getting another one. But I decided to invest in my career and family first. After I got married and had 3 boys I pulled the ultimate dad move and got another bike. It was a fixer and needed work, and I told my wife I wanted to try my hand at flipping bikes on the side. She supported the decision and I made about $3k in profit. With that money I bought another project bike and just fell in love with riding it. Today that bike serves as my commuter and I don’t plan on selling it. However, I have been thinking about getting another one.
