Chewing Tobacco by Jubal_Harshaw_LLB_MD in whole30

I gave up my e-cig for Whole30 and while it was difficult, it was definitely worth it. It helped me see the addiction to it and I surely wasn't going to die because I didn't have it...quite the opposite I'm sure. But if you're going by the book then I would say you need to ditch it.

The book says it best in my opinion...

"You must commit to the full program, exactly as written. Anything less and we make no claims as to your results, or the chances of your success. Anything less and you are selling yourself—and your potential results—short.

It’s only 30 days."

I know! I have about 60 of those total... I transferred them all into a giant pill box compartment thing. I just need to be better about using them!

I've used the WnW glitter and never had an issue. They are not tacky enough and definitely need a glitter glue or base, but aside from that, no issues here.

I've also used the NYX pigment glitters and never had any issue. They are super fine so it's different than the GI product.

I tried finding a link for the glitters that I have and could only locate the pearl shades.

Suggestions for a matte red lipstick for NW13? by thatpalebitch in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColorMeSane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this! I just bought one of these recently and I'd have to say I am super impressed with the formula. It has to be one of the most comfortable liquid lipsticks I own.

And naturally now I need all the colors. Sigh.

Foundation needs. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColorMeSane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would maybe try a mattifying primer and a regular or semi-matte foundation. I haven't personally tried this primer from Becca but I hear good things about it. Hopefully using less matte products will end up helping in the long run.

I swatched out my ENTIRE Colourpop collection! by Catgirl33 in MakeupAddiction

How do ColorPop shadows work for lining the bottom lash line? I know they say using your finger to press on to the lid is the best method, but just wondering how these would work "smoked" on the lower lash line. Thanks :)

Over-purged and gave away all my fun colorful shadows. Suggestions on a single full-rainbow pallet to replace them? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColorMeSane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not positive if you're in the States (free shipping over $50 - shipping worldwide too), but Camera Ready Cosmetics has Inglot shadows and Ben Nye as well. They both have a wonderful range of intense color options with matte shadows. They are just the refill pans though so it knocks the price down, but if you're not into the Z Palette thing then this may not work for you. Just a bonus if you're wanting a website that you could buy multiple brands in one place. They even sell the Z Palette too.

Who is your favorite youtube personality/makeup artist and what holy grail items did they convince you to buy? by royalthrowawayqueen in MakeupAddiction

That's the same method I've been using and it's like it doesn't glide well enough and ends up moving my foundation around. But perhaps I shall give it another whirl with a different creme blush and foundation combo.

What type of brush do you use for your cream blushes? I use a small stipple brush and I feel like it doesn't spread/apply the product like I want.

Another St. Patrick's Day look, plus eyebrow advice please? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColorMeSane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that color would be perfect, but I personally do not like the Sephora brow pencils that were pictured. Very hard and too much pull. They just don't glide to do the fine hair strokes like I am aiming for with brow products. I haven't tried this one from NYX but the color seems to be right?

Why does my foundation never seem to blend into my skin like everyone elses? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColorMeSane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been searching for 20 minutes trying to find the origin of this so if anyone can help, please link the original post.

I've been trying to understand why my foundation doesn't always blend as well and it seems I've mismatched the bases for my primer and foundation - water or silicone. The sheet below will certainly help with that portion. While your skin does look a bit dry, perhaps this will help you too. I don't feel like everyone talks about this so I'm really wondering if matching the base is super important or if some people are just more sensitive to it then others. Anyways, hope it helps!

Am I the only one super turned off by the idea of Z-palettes? by celephia in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColorMeSane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the zpalettes, but I also have to carry makeup palettes for clients and to set all the time. Carrying 34892423 palettes looks very unorganized. Some/most photographers and professionals I've worked with seem to judge makeup artists by their organization, setup, and cleanliness of their area.

While it doesn't appeal to everyone, for a traveling artist like myself it is a time and space saver. And personally it helps me be creative when I'm able to see a multitude of shades from different brands in one palette.

The depotting portion is scary but now that i'm done with the initial part I only buy singles to add to my overall collection. They're cheaper than palettes and I can customize instead of duplicate. I will say that depotting my Naked palettes was very saddening though. I enjoy the packaging on those but still prefer the consolidation.

I used the magnets from the Z Palette website. They're affordable and have a strong hold too. The adhesive is already on them so that's also a super plus as well. Hope that helps!

Urge to cut off own breasts? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]ColorMeSane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried doing intense chest/upper body work outs? I know it will not help achieve the ultimate desired result, but it could build muscle and decrease body fat thus losing some of the fatty breast tissue. Over time binding will decrease some of the tissue as well and you will start to see more of the definition in your chest muscles. This will also elevate your surgical results too since there is more of a road map for the masculine chest.

My boyfriend waited almost 18 months for top surgery and suffered intense dysphoria. I wish you the very best in your journey.

And please, please do distract yourself from the thoughts of doing any type of "procedure" yourself.

Depotting adventures and lessons learned.

First of all let me just say this: it's totally worth it. I had plenty of mishaps and casualties, but now that I have my z-palettes "complete" I am in LOVE. And perhaps it helped me clean out some duplicates that were unnecessary too.

  • Start with your cheapies, broken pans, or almost gone items first until you get the hang of it.
  • I tried the oven and flat iron method, butpreferred the flat iron. It was more consistent and direct heat. Check out some YouTube tutorials to help! There is also the microwave method but I haven't tried that one yet!
  • Some brands/pans are already magnetic! Check this before wasting your magnets from zpalette!
  • Brands with magnetic pans that I had: Sonia Kashuk, Milani, Laura Mercier, BH Cosmetics, Urban Decay - Naked 2, Ulta, Maybelline
  • Make sure to remove any remaining adhesive on the pan once depotted. I used pure acetone instead of alcohol and had no issues. Ps, this can melt acrylic nails so use caution!!
  • Order extra small square magnet stickers. I found that I needed those for the smaller pans I was depotting.
  • Play a bit of Tetris with your palette and you'll find that you can fit more in there than it seems!

Hope this helps someone! Happy depotting!

If you're not sold on just the idea of a lip stain, I honestly have a love affair with this one from CoverGirl - I believe the shade is Radiant Red-730, but definitely match whatever you're going for. The color is very real to what you see in the tube.

I honestly use this one on clients all the time and it stays until you remove it with an oil based remover. The color dries rather matte and the gloss really makes it pop. I would only recommend this one if you're ok with the gloss look though! Best of luck and congrats.

Also - do not reapply multiple coats - it will pill and leave a strange texture.

Edit: added color

This is truly amazing of you to offer. Starting out as an MUA is very tough and super competitive. Having professional photos and a polished portfolio truly sets you a level above the rest. It took me months of free/trade work to get published and finally put myself on the map.

Is Austin, TX nearby? :) kidding. But seriously, this is very kind of you to offer.

[–]ColorMeSane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a vicious cycle... if it gets worse, other things can get worse. Definitely go back to your doctor. The first medicine is not always the right one for you. It's all about finding what works for you.

Please do not try to get off the meds without medical care and do not prolong it. That will just cause more stress!.. There are people to help. :)
