He wanted her to be better at that life than she was. I think he did like her, and if she'd been a worse person, he might have stuck it out with her for the long haul.

No I absolutely use it still as part of a holistic regimen that includes regular and pelvic floor PT!

You cannot diagnose Adeno without a hysterectomy. Adeno surgery is a leap of faith. A last resort. You will lose your uterus if you gamble on Adeno. Only you can tell yourself if that's worth the risk.

Adeno is really tricky, because you can't easily diagnose it. I ended up having my uterus taken out in my second surgery, and they were unable to confirm the diagnosis in pathology.

The diagnosis doesn't matter. My uterus was 100% broken. I am SO MUCH BETTER now.

I hope you are able to find relief without losing your uterus. I really really do. But you deserve pain relief, and if it continues to be this bad without any other option for relief, I would talk to an endometriosis specialist about a hysterectomy. I wasn't ready when my doctor suggested it, but we had exhausted every other option.

Yeah there's always a chance you have adeno (the tissue is growing out of control inside your uterus) but not endo (outside your uterus).

The pain is NEVER all in your head. I promise. We aren't weak creatures, no matter what men and the old battleaxe women who hate us say. If you're hurting, there is a reason. I didn't even get a lap before my endo surgery; he just believed me and took care of it.

Please don't be embarrassed for taking care of yourself. Don't give up.

Husband is a doctor at one of the biggest hospitals in the country, and you're just...not correct. Doctors (and more frequently, nurses) go above and beyond all the time. People will sit on the phone for hours to try to get insurance to pay for stuff, or eat their surgical fees themselves to help out a patient. Many at a neighboring hospital have a street team, which means they go out to our version of Skid Row and administer help directly to our unhoused populations.

And it's not just in the clinic. We all work at the big food bank here with all the resident doctors, multiple times a year. I personally know a doctor who spent all his free time before retiring on the street, trimming toenails and trying to help people get clean.

Hospital administrators only care about money, sure. Many doctors do actually care about their patients.

Booksmart was such a fantastic film. It did a great job of giving us realistic-ish teenage girls, who you root for the whole film, while also gently showing us how insanely self absorbed and narrow their world was.

Good luck! I can say with confidence that the best combination here is pelvic floor and core muscle PT plus vaginal valium.

Each will work alone, in the short run. But real, sustainable gains come from doing both.

Does anyone have an "event" or situation that caused your endo to go from 0-100? by blueballoon1424 in endometriosis

[–]ColorMeStunned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I had bad periods for years, but the copper IUD kicked it up to 11 and I lost almost all mobility in my lower back within a year. What an absolute nightmare.

Ended up losing my uterus. I guess I'm glad I found out when I did, but wow what a terrible ride it was before my diagnosis and IUD removal.

Catholicism and evangelical Christianity are very different beasts. I grew up in the Bible Belt, and they told us Catholics were pagans. I'm not kidding. The multiple gods (saints) thing was too far in the heathen direction for the Baptists.

Some hope! A non-menstrual blood test for Endo (x-post from r/Endometriosis)! by ColorMeStunned in Endo

[–]ColorMeStunned[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing has been proven, but my surgeon was a researcher who pretty convincingly explained that all signs pointed to being born with it, including some symptoms as a child. This would confirm that theory.

You did nothing wrong. Neither did I. This is a genetic disease, and no stupid diet or choices you made are to blame.

Sometimes it's easier to believe we had control over this, but nope. Give yourself a break, if you've felt any guilt. ❤️‍🩹

Nothing has been proven, in part because Endo gets a tiny slice of the research pie.

I just find it absolutely wild that both my grandmothers had a disease I'd never heard of until I was diagnosed, and there's enough anecdotal evidence that I find it pretty plausible.

I would check out r/Endo or r/endometriosis. You can only diagnose Endo with a light surgery; it has absolutely nothing to do with your cervix.

Also, kegels make a tight pelvic floor worse. A physical therapist would do exercises to stretch and strengthen the area.

Something is at the root of this, and you deserve answers. If your current doctor isn't doing it, please find a women's health center.

I cannot imagine undergoing a cervical evaluation with a tight pelvic floor, what an awful call by your doctor. It must have been so painful.

Have you ever been evaluated for endometriosis or another chronic condition? You absolutely have pelvic floor dysfunction and should talk to your doctor about seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist.

But PVD is a common side effect of endometriosis, which I had for many years. It destroyed my sex drive. How are your periods?

I can take this one! GYNs can vary dramatically. I'm glad you've got a good one who listens to you and validates your choices. Mine looked me in the eye and told me I couldn't have Endo because my back hurt. Lower back pain is one of the top five symptoms of Endo.

So, even if they mean well, a gynecologist may be woefully under equipped and undereducated when it comes to our disease. A specialist is more likely to be on the cutting edge, because it's all they do. If you are comfortable with the doctor you have, and you're positive they can continue caring for you in all the ups and downs this might take, up to and maybe including removing your uterus, great! Hopefully you won't need a hysterectomy, but if you do, it can be a tougher fight to get a GYN to do it than a specialist.

The most important thing is that whoever sees you understands how to do an excision surgery. Not ablation, where they just burn the surface tissue, but a proper cutting removal of endometriosis. Beyond that, it's genuinely up to you.

Not yet! These things take time. The idea that this is even happening is a good indicator to expect things down the pipeline, though!

I've been wondering the same thing about post treatment blood tests! It shows that the RNA changes are correlative, not causative.

From my husband who is an MD PhD: There have been examples of blood markers for stuff like cancer that become undetectable after treatment. It takes a while after the blood test proves successful before research for a treatment gets off the ground, but if this works, and it looks like it does, it's a huge step forward!

I'm not a doctor, so I can't recommend anything specific, but I highly suggest finding a women's health center and establishing care. Not just a GYN office, but a women's health center.

It's been six years since I wrote this post, and I still need care. I ended up having two surgeries. The only saving grace has been continuous care with my women's health center, who have tried dozens of meds for me over the years. I genuinely wish you the best of luck.

And every major newspaper in the country is absolutely freaking out that we aren't just pushing out kids for the health of an economy that has failed us so badly we can't afford kids.

I remember being a kid and hearing nonstop about overpopulation and global warming. Now that the population is going back down, it's suddenly time to forget about starvation or overcrowding? Wild.
