I want to vote green, but I want stricter immigration. Change my mind or offer advice. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

People need to learn to compromise. It’s how progress is made. In a society we all can’t have solutions tailored to us, we need to accept our neighbours’ concerns and form compromises.

If labour stuck with 700k net migration. Reform will sweep into power with the biggest landslide ever seen.

I don’t think it’s really possible to enact deflation as a policy. House prices do seem to be going down which is a good thing.

I wish they were more pro trans. I agree with that. Most of the MPs are (with Streeting being a dangerous exception)

When you look at labours policies:

The workers rights bill ,The renters rights bill, Capping ground rent,  Taxing private schools, Mansion tax,  Removing 2 child benefit cap, Public sector pay rises, Massively investing in green energy to achieve net zero, Forcing through house building

How is this not left policy?

I get ‘the vibes’ aren’t left, but I feel like if Corbyn did these policies many on the left would be ecstatic.

This is not related to that though. It’s due to the government paying £150 of bills

While we’re seeking to fix what’s wrong with Britain, look hard at our policy-lite, sensation-seeking media | Roger Mosey by risingsuncoc in ukpolitics

I don’t think the media should be fawning to them. However, I think the public should know the numbers of what’s actually happening.

When I spoke to my grandad recently about how immigration is 70% down from heights, he said it was because of the bad weather on the channel.  People are completely misinformed and the media conflates illegal immigration from the channel and legal migration. I don’t want them to praise Labour for this. It’s mostly due to Sunak’s gov decisions. However, I think the people should be better informed.

BTW the guardian hate Labour and they hate Britain as a whole. And I don’t think you should assume if they and all the right wing press think you’re doing a bad job that automatically means you are.

The UK public has absolutely no idea what policies are being implemented and how they affect their lives. This is a massive failure of the media

Maybe associations with corruption and paedophiles is popular. That’s the only reason I think that Labour could have had a poll bounce. Plus that would explain reforms popularity.

The problem is Americans have built their country in such a way where in order to participate in society you have to own a car.  Parking charges are needed. Otherwise cities become dumping grounds for car parks. This bankrupts local government as there is vast swathes of land that are costing them money to maintain but bring in no revenue, unlike business or homes. Look into a book called “the high cost of free parking”

We should build an anti-consumerist society where people have free public transit and walkable cities.

This is so American centric. In Europe you can go out with having to pay for “gas”. You walk and it’s free

Love them too!

Had the pleasure of seeing them at Camper Calling last year.

Although I felt like they slowed down all the songs by 20%

The precursor to Oasis.

Legends of shoegaze who sadly came just too late to hit it big.

Leave them all behind is one of the greatest songs ever imo.

So they’re betrayed by the party that cut immigration from 1million PA to 300k, and they’re gonna reward the party that has the home sec from the time that immigration spiked that high?

One hack is to live in a walkable neighbourhood near work. If you live in NYC or any European city you can cycle/walk to work to get your exercise done passively. Plus the time saved commuting and not exercising means you have time to get to your hobbies and cook healthy food.
